Retro Fusion Magazine IndieGOGO campaign - SAMPLE ARTICLE!!

Postby boyo on Sat May 26, 2012 7:25 am

Hi guys, the next issue of Retro Fusion is underway and to fund the print of 3 future issues and to pay those who contribute to the magazine I have set up a IndieGOGO campaign. Check out the campaign http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/110169?a=625476 . A new video will appear shortly on the compaign where I put my case forward for the campaign.

Please contribute all you can - I am looking to get the first issue done, if we get the funding, for Replay.

Check out the website - http://www.retrofusion.me.uk . Downloads of Issues 0,1,2 will appear on the shop on the site very shortly for a small fee.

And take a look at the proposed cover for Issue 3:

Top Ten Sci-Fi toys... Was that my article I wrote years back? If so, nice to have it ressurrected! ;)

Good luck with securing the funding.

I will happily buy a copy once it has been produced and is ready to buy, but what is to say it wont get cancelled like last time with everyone who donates their money going towards charity rather than the magazine?

I have £150 in the bank from pre-ordes. Back for issue 0,1 and 2 I used my credit card and then chased those who had adverts for like 6 months to recoup costs. Not going to do that again. So 50 pre-orders - I need like 300 to make this happen, plus getting adverts in a recession has proven difficult. No one is interested!

Lesson learnt. Should have stuck to what I said in a post 6 months ago - no more projects!! :D

Sorry to seem negative, but as only £150 got raised last time, I can't see how your going to raise the £3800 you need this time to produce the magazine.

With the campaign - if I don't get the full amount then the magazine does not get made. But you are right about the history and that will be your call m8 - the money went to charity last time.

It seems most the costs are relating to printing the magazine. I am guess the costs were met in the past by advertising and the agreement to distribute the magazine through a large chain of stores.

Why don't you perhaps use the same model as Atari User magazine? They have a PDF digital download version available for $3.95 at: http://www.atariuser.com/latest_issue.htm
A printed version with colour cover and b&w pages for £4.95 at: http://www.lulu.com/shop/atari-user/ata ... 31813.html
And a full colour version (with digital download version) for $14.95 at: http://www.magcloud.com/browse/issue/365222

Just a positive thought.
