England were pretty unimpressive and lucky to win but I will take it.

i thought that the first half, england looked lacking in offense but still really hard to beat. Second half much better - i think it will take a special team to beat us (prob germany on penalties again knowing our luck)

So, England it is :) Tonight England has been lucky with the episodes (appalling Ukraine's goalkeeper, blind linesman) but I think qualification is well deserved, and the french have to blame only themselves for not being able to finish 1st.

Looks like an interesting match on sunday, it's been several years since the last "important" match between Italy and England. May the better side win.
That would be us.

Sweden has won 1-0 against France so that puts England on top of the league!

2-0 final Sweden score

Not the best England performance. First 20 mins it was all Croatia. Happy with the win. Anything which happens now is a bonus

By far the best refereeing I can remember at a major international tourny.

Seems to have been some kind of directive to ignore players falling to the ground in mock injury, 50-50s no longer seem to be unfairly penalised, some great advantages being played and good old British shoulder-charging seems to be allowed again.

I only watched it from a distance with the sound off whilst pretending to work, but weren't they offside in the buildup for the disallowed goal?

Yep, surprised the commentators took so long to catch on to that one but I guess they were obviously focusing on the bit after.

I think Ukraine created enough chances to at least earn themselves a draw, they gave us a much better game than I was expecting.

Hopefully now the group stage is over England won't be so complacent and will take it to Italy. I'm going for thrilling 4-3 win to England.... on penalites.

Blatter and Platini will be falling over themselves to introduce the goal line technology they didn't want now :D Makes up for the last world cup anyway.
Keep grinding out the wins...get slightly better each game and then win the cup. Easy :D

Goal line technology would have allowed that goal but that would have been wrong as the guy was offside to begin with. Would have been tons of controversy if that goal was allowed so theres a prime case of not having the technology there.

You don't have to be the best team in the competition to win a tournament. It's knockout now, so anything can happen.
