Former Villa players! Ashley Young has been dire but Olof Mellberg's bagged two goals!

Great to see Theo Walcott score within a couple of minutes of coming on when the BBC commentators had just slated him!

3-2 up now but we will get slaughtered by better sides than Sweden who are pretty average let's be honest.

... another former Villa player! The so-so James Milner made way for Walcott who's since scored and provided the assist for Danny Welbeck's goal.

Happy with the result but worried by the defending. The marking for both their goals was shocking

Agreed. John Terry in particular was absolutely shocking.

It's all academic, England will finish second in the group, meet Spain in the quarters and get destroyed.

I remember the 'experts' claiming fellow Tiki-Taka merchants Barca would destroy Chelski in the UEFA Champions League this last season too!

I actually think we will have far more chance of beating Spain than someone like Germany. We could just crowd Spain out and counter them. Germany will just shaft us from every angle.

Capello? He's at home sipping Peroni with all the millions the FA paid him.

I decided to watch our national football team tonight. Nothing has really changed. Apart from the result against a Swedish team. I thought they were sunk at 2-1 but a bit of effort and not a little bit of luck got them back into it.

Hopefully they qualify. The QFs will be a laugh whoever England get.

Not quite sure what your point is there! :P

Anyways... Capello's final game as England boss: England 1-0 Spain

I don't like the guy, and he was pretty poor (the defence as a whole were shaky), but there were lots more individuals that had worse games than him, including:

Gerrard (anonymous, apart from the cross for Carroll's goal)
Young (absolutely awful)
Johnson (may as well have put a traffic cone at right back)

I enjoyed the match and it was a decent result, but it was basically two poor sides slugging it out last night. We may well sneak out of the group now, but we'll embarrass ourselves in the quarters against Spain or someone.

Agreed. talkSPORT radio has been saying what a great performance it was by Gerrard  . When watching the match last night I thought how old and laboured he's looking nowadays. Oh well!
