You should get Stun Runner, Xybots and Klax as I remember them being supurb as well as Ninja Gaiden being a brilliant Conversion..

I got a Lynx 2 today for £32 with 3 games boxed Calfornia Games, Rygar and something called Xenophobe...

I adore Xybots and had Xenephobe on the C64, good game but stupidly hard.

Xenophobe is a superb arcade conversion as you will see if you read my review

There are seriously less than 10 censored Lynx games, best good to bad ratio of any console in my opinion.

Agreed, the only ones I haven't got any enjoyment out of (so far) is Fat Bobby and Shanghai (and that's just because I don't care much for mah-jong games).
My comics blog (mostly lesser-known UK stuff from the 80s and 90s)

Hi Jagfest one game I can't seem to see on your list.. It was reviewed in Gamezone, unfortunately all my Gamezones are in the attic and I can't remember the name..

It was a scrolling beat em I'm sure the main guy looked like Dirty Harry.. The first level was set in a street and the Baddies where mostly Women with Whips and Chains, later on you where on a deserted Subway train and you fought a Giant Man in a Hockey Mask with a Chainsaw.. You also had a gun which 1 hit killed but only had limited bullets.. I thought it was called Renegade Cop, also do you have a spare of this game or Chips Challange or Stun Runner by any chance?

Also would a Home Bargins/Argus 4 prong adaptar work on the Lynx?

That's Dirty Larry: Renegade Cop, not got round to adding that game yet. Are you talking about an AC Adaptor yes? As long as it has the right end plug and is 9v positive it should work.

I actually just sold my spare Chip's Challenge to somebody. Here is a list of my Lynx spares:

Lynx Casino seems to be super rare for some reason when I looked the other day there was 2 on eBay and one was £50! :?

Got my Lynx today and fluff me it's HUGE!!!
I literally have never held one before and bajeesus it's a gargatuan thang!
Works perfectly though, few light screen scratches but nothing noticable when powered up and sound is clear, all buttons and dials work and battery cover is present (a niggle of mine with handhelds).
All in all I am happy with my purchase, well worth £17 :)
Currently have Xybots (Love that game) and SotBeast and awaiting (still..2 weeks later) Gauntlet 3.

It's not that big compared to other handhelds of the time (Lynx 2) that is. But compared to the likes of the DS or PSP then yes!

I posted your games yesterday so you should have them very soon!

Re: Atari Lynx Homebrew etc query.

Postby tachi on Sat Aug 11, 2012 8:18 am

After a little Hijack in r0jaws thread (Sorry ) I was informed by Jagfest_UK that that the Lynx is Region Free!
I did consider this so did a few Googlies and everywhere I looked said it was Region Locked but if this is wrong and it is region free this changes everything!
Also people mentioned the Homebrew scene. Now the only HBs I have ever used is on old Cover Disks of Games Magazines!?
So my questions are, as it is Region Free, what games must I own, as currently I have about 5 games (Chip's Challenge, Dirty Larry, Gauntlet, Shadow of the Beast and Xybots) and the system feels extremely wasted to me
Also, where/how do I obtain Homebrew games as there are a few I like such as 720*
FInally, the Prototype games, AVP for example, how does one obtain these nowadays?
