Right. So people are getting narked by the mag's standing copy, and the repetition within those pages, so here's a chance to do something about it. Within this thread, please post full URLs to interesting retro-gaming websites, along with a short description regarding what the site's all about. No bitching or sniping in this thread either, please—any such stuff will be deleted without warning.

Hopefully, this thread will provide Darran with a bigger selection of interesting sites to draw on when dealing with that section of the mag.

www.atariage.com : sort of a standing repository of Atari 8 bit (and some 16bit) information .The Forums there are probably the best place to ask if you've any (non ST) atari questions.
www.atarimania.com : proably the best place to look for info on atari 8 bit games , cover scans, year of release, tape/disk images etc.

Yes.

I love RGR, been listening to it for years, long before RG started.

Initially I was a bit meh, but I've grown accustomed to Shane's presentation. I miss it this year, real life has taken over and he's not had much time to record.

Forum hasn't been up to scratch since the big Armchair Arcade shutdown though. Prior to that, it had quite a buzz.

It's US based and unashamedly so - which basically means they don't cover anything that isn't part of their past gaming experience. This rathr reduces the scope for variety somewhat and a great deal of interesting subject matter just doesn't register there.

I'd say it was more 'Shane' based than US based. Shane tells personal stories and gives his opinion. He welcomes opposition to those opinions and can debate at great length on them.

Even if you don't agree with Shane's rants, there's no denying that the interviews are worth the download alone.

Note that if you buy the compilation discs (at minimal profit - this helps fund the CGE trips), you get the interviews in isolation from the rest of the show.

I think it is the legnth of the rants, the fact that he doesn't edit it and the number of times he said 'this is supposed to be good, but I haven't tried it'. I suppose its a time thing, but if they only get released once a month max (and almost always longer) then I think the production values could be a little better.

I do download it and listen though as it is still better than all the fanboy podcasts out there (WoW FTW! and all that crap).
