Am i the only one in the universe to be mucking about with an Mattel Aquarius?????????
AND.... Why ain t it in the Price guide????
Cmon guys ......
Waddaya say Waddya sday....??????
I know nothing about these - except that when I was a kid, I saw one, thought it looked really cool and tried hard to persude my folks to buy me one.
Not sure why, but they ended up buying me a Vic20 - which was totaly random at the time, but clearly inspired!
I think this machine has popped up in the back to the 80s feature at some point - as it only had around 20 games or so released there may not enough for it to make it into a retroinspection.
Ive had mine for a a long time now, although it dosent get much of an airing these days.
A good site to look at is run by a Dutch guy who is mad on them.
Its www.vdsteenoven.com/aquarius/ The system is Cart and cassette based and even has a Tron deadly discs cartridge as well......I think it had bet 20/30 games and applications.
If you want the even more obscure, there was a Mattel Aquarius 2 which ive only seen pics of....
I've got one, complete with super expander, 16k ram pack and cassette deck - also have a few games, it truly was amazing what mattel achieved when they ripped the guts out of the intellivision and stuck it inside a computer case - BUGGER ALL!!
I hated the machine from the moment I got it - cant believe what some of these manufacturers were thinking at the time?
Another stinker was the Tandy MC10 - similar spec and price to the Aquarius and sold just as well! - Yeah- next to no memory crap sound and crappier graphics and all for roughly the same price as a Speccy????????????????
Still the Aquarius 2 did look nice - seem to remember Mattell disowning it and the original designers Radofin eventually releasing it (I could be wrong though).
