Hi all,

The user links have been fixed. You can now access your page at:

http://www.retrogamer.net/user/username

We also fixed a problem some of you might have experienced where if you edit a review, it defaults the genre back to Adventure.

Just out of curiosity, if I review a game, like say, I dunno.... Unirally, and someone had already covered it but I hadn't noticed, what happens? Does it give a message telling me to cop on, or does nothing much happen? I'd enter something random for an existing title but I don't want to waste anyone's time if doubles have to be checked manually.

When you submit a game, it gets marked as 'waiting for approval' - if that game, on that system, has already been done, yours will get removed (it'll just disappear) - I made the same mistake!

Hmm, I reckon I might have to do a few of these.

Also, could we have another category - 'Action'?

Some games just don't fit the rest :)

Another thing - some of the profiles are miles over 350 words.

Why hasn't anybody done Rise of the Robots yet? ;)

Another thing - is editing going to be done at all? I'm all for everyone submitting their own stuff without being chastised, but there are some basic spelling/grammatical errors dotted around one or two of the profiles which makes for irksome reading.

Perhaps a plea might help this - to appease nit-pickers like myself, can everyone chuck their articles into Word and run a spelling/grammar check before submitting? Cheers. ^_^

Edit: AND ANOTHER THING...

Would it be possible to have a list of games with profiles currently pending moderation to avoid any disappointments? (ie, writing a profile for a certain game to find there was already one awaiting moderation)

I think a very good addition would be the option of getting an email when someone posts a comment to any of your profiles. At the moment there is no way to know, other than reading the comments again on all your profiles to see if there are any new ones (or remembering how many comments each game had last time you checked).

Also out of courtesy, if your game profile gets deleted/not approved for any reason, any chance of sending a message explaining why...

I agree with Sureshot about the spelling/grammar too btw - it only takes 30 seconds to run your text through a spellcheck. I write all mine in Word first anyway as it happens... :D

As a future development it would be cool if you could have the facility to link related game profiles together too, e.g. link Super Mario Bros to Super Mario World...

I've got a question concerning the "Only one profile per game, per format" rule:
does that mean that there can be, like, three reviews of, say, MARBLE MADNESS, one for the arcade version, one for the C64 version and one for the MegaDrive version?
Or is only one profile of MARBLE MADNESS allowed?
Thanks in advance!

No, different formats can get their own versions. I've done the Megadrive version of Sonic 3d and Fred83's done the Saturn version. That way when you look for Saturn games only, it'll come up.

Besides, there are usually differences anyhow. On that point, maybe one of the two Archon reviews could be rebranded onto another system? I know nothing about the game so I dunno if the same screenshot could be reused.

Actually, those are two different screenshots. But it looks like both are reviewing the C64 version (at least I reviewed that version).

What I mean is, are there any graphical differences between versions? If one review had to be relabeled as being from a different machine, it'd be no good keeping the C64 screenshot there.

Will any of our requests still be considered? There's still no 'Action' category, for example.
