Very tough question !

For me its Manic Miner, first platform game I played and the best. Chuckie Egg is superb though, so playable and a great laugh. Jet Set Willy was one of those games where I just moved about finding 'new rooms' ! Couldn't ever complete that

I agree ! Find it very odd ! Never had an MSX or PC Engine but downloaded emulators/games for it. Stunned people havent downloaded an emulator to try out these famous games which are mentioned frequently here and in the magazine.

Chuckie Egg for me. I was never a fan of JSW or MM. I spent most of my spectrum time playing Booty.

Another vote for JSW! surprised its pretty low on the poll, i know Manic Miner was the first in the series but JSW when it made it big and everyone took notice, I'm still gutted i could never complete it cause of a bug!

My vote goes to Chuckie Egg. I like the other three a lot but I find you have to be in the right mood to play them. Plus I used to sneakily load it on the school BBC in maths when I should have been playing that taxi maths game.

One of my all time favourites that still gets played today.

For me it has be Dynamite Dan, it was a tough game but far less brutal than Manic Miner and Jet Set Willy. I still love the intricate and detailed graphics and the use of Alla Turca by Mozart in the soundtrack this adds a pace and urgency to the game.

Great poll question. For me, it has to be Manic Miner, very closely edging out Chuckie Egg because of it's superior jump mechanics.
Dynamite Dan always felt a bit cold to me and Jet Set Willy, despite being full of atmosphere, was just so ridiculously hard that it was difficult to even attempt a serious play at it.

My vote goes to Chuckie Egg- I think its aged far more gracefully than the Willy games and still plays excellently now- its as tight as a classic coin-op.

I remember playing the excellent BBC version quite a bit at school, also :) .

Ack! Tough one between Manic Miner and Chuckie Egg ... I went with Manic Miner as its one of the games that me and many others associate with the Spectrum very closely, whereas I felt Chuckie Egg was a touch better on its rival the Amstrad :) So Manic Miner it is.

All these were great! I went for JSW. It was a close one between MM, CE and JSW. I never completed it though. Has anyone who has posted on this thread completed it?

Manic Miner for me, still holds up well I reckon. Chuckie Egg is good too though. Think JSW is overrated personally.
