I was thinking how about BeachHead 1 or 2 from access software..classic graphics matched with variety of different gameplay elements...the knife throwing in BeachHead 2 was brilliant fun!

Another good choice Rinoa, but we've recently covered it. Best to stick to stuff that's either not been in the mag yet, or has been absent for a very long time now.

Oops!

In that case I'll change my vote to The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening.

What's wrong with Super Castlevania IV? I thought it was brilliant.

Also the other SNES games that springs in mind are F-Zero or Super Mario Kart.

BH1 is a great game , but tbh I think of BH2 as more of a 2-player game - would love to play either though , BH2 on C64 with digitised sound was a great game , esp the 1st level

There's some great choices so far, but I'm going to lock this for the time being so everyone can concentrate on playing the current game. The more people we can get playing, the more experiences we'll all be able to read about. I'll open this up in a couple of weeks time and put the final choice in the relevant issue.

Okay I've unlocked this now. Bear in mind when choosing games to not pick something that's either ridiculously expensive or has recently been covered in the magazine. Let's find a game that we can all sit down and play :)

I also won't be picking any Mega Drive games either.

My choice would be between Strider and Beach Head (on the C16, of course ;) )

[predictable] 3D Deathchase on the Speccy [/predictable]

Or how about Daley Thompsons Supertest on the Speccy 128k.
