Borderlands

Postby C=Style on Fri Oct 23, 2009 6:09 pm

Just picked this up after reading a few reviews. It looks like a top game! anyone else picked it up? The game is mainly focused towards co-op play but it looks like a FPS/RPG kinda like Fallout 3 but with more action, at least that how it looks t o me. I will post impressions later, but just wanted to know if anyone had bought it and if they fancy teaming up then add me!

I'm thinking of getting it, but it'll have to be for the 360. What do you think of it, C=Style?

Someone on my friends list complained it is really hard. Is this true, or are they just rubbish?

Well, I've played a good couple of hours of it and really like it. Can see how it is really a co-op game as the single player mode feels a tiny bit barren. Kinda like a grind fest with you leveling up your character but it's not quite that repetitive. It feels very good to play and the gfx are outstanding, really reminds me of XIII but obviously a lot better looking. I can see me becoming very absorbed with this, but I just gotta get a few friends playing it so I make the most of it, I'm trying to convince my brother to buy it, I really hope he does! I can see this being an absolute riot online.

And no, from what I played it wasn't very hard at all, you have spend a little bit of time leaning how the upgrades, map system and stuff like that works, I guess it could come across as a bit confusing but the actual game didn't appear to be very hard to me anyway, and I'm pretty crap at FPS trust me! :D

Thanks, I'll probably pick it up then.

I guess my friend is just rubbish at it. But then he did struggle with Viva Pinata

Really getting a feel for this game now. The best way to describe it is, think; Fallout 3 meets XIII meets Phantasy Star Online. A very strange combo lol! But it works and it' very addictive. 8)

I was looking at this as the online multiplayer has had some good reviews, but with MW2 just around the corner it would probably be a waste of £40.....

I know you're bigtime into your COD: MW games but Borderlands is totally different to warrant another purchase. I couldn't bloody stop playing it last night, ended up doing an all nighter! It's now gone up in my estimation even more, I'd give this quite easily a 9/10 so far, maybe even more. One of the best games I've played this year by far. No doubt that It's superb but it's gonna get buried under all these other big releases.

Yeah, I do like the look of it and the multiplayer looks great. What is it like online, have you spent much time in multiplayer mode yet ?

All I am thinking is that when MW2 hits thats all I will play (unless it's sh1t :D ), so I will get around 2 weeks on Borderlands and then it wont get touched for ages. Much better and cheaper to wait until after Xmas and then pick it up around £15-20 pre-owned.

I do love multiplayer gaming so if the Borderlands online play is good I will probably get it at some point, I'm not really bothered about the single player game as for me the online play is nearly always better and more fun.

I headed out and bought a copy today. I haven't had a chance to try multiplayer, yet, but I am definitely enjoying what I've seen so far.

Good man! 8) it gets better the more you play, it really opened up for me after a few hours and understood the game structure. I killed Sledge last night! now that was tough. I think my level and guns was only just high enough to kill him, was such a struggle though. Brilliant game! I had a few games Co-op and it played really well, but I'm hooked on playing solo atm. :) Co-op is just the icing on the cake.

By the way there are a gazillion guns in this game, some of them are brilliant, they're not all clones, shitloads of genuinely different guns. The way you level up and collect items from the wasteland really reminds me of PSO, it's shares the exact kind of addictiveness as that game.

This game is fantastic, I've been playing it all weekend and am up to level 22 now. Only played it multiplayer, co-op with my brother over Live, and to be honest I can't see myself playing it single player after having done so.

I'm not sure how it would work with strangers - as it works best if you are all on the same mission/s - but as a co-op game to be played with friends I honestly can't think of anything better on Xbox 360. Fantastic, and the grind doesn't feel like a grind because you're just having a great time :)

For anybody who has only played this single player, you have to get on with some buddies. Start from the start with new characters and stick to playing these characters only for co-op sessions. Can't recommend the experience any higher! Having said that, I think that possibly the multi-player experience will ruin any chance of me enjoying it single player...but then, that's hardly a bad thing!

Cool thing is even if you are plying with randoms then the game tries (and succeeds) to find you people on the same mission as you, it's done really well!

I got a chance to play this multiplayer today. A friend joined me to take down Sledge. C=Style is right, that's one tough fight. Both single player and multiplayer are great, and Ilike the idea of a co-op only character, especially as there are achievements for each character.

I really recommend this game.

We found Sledge to be relatively easy - in fact, getting the Mine Key itself was harder. Just wait until you get to Skagzilla! Finishing that was a proper sense of achievement :D
