Post & Packing for Subscriptions

Postby Shirohagen on Fri Jan 13, 2006 4:55 pm

Hello

I was a previous RG subscriber before the mag went bust (still a bit miffed) but have been very please with the new version. I've had 2 of my 3 complimentary issues, so was considering subscribing after the next one. The thing is the old RG always arrived in a terrible state on my doormat (I know a lot of people complained of this) and the new mag has arrived in the cheapest brown envelope every time so far. Have Imagine been packaging it cheaply because it is a complimentary copy, or if I subscribe can I expect practically no protection for my magazine in the post?

Anyone already received subscription issues, or anyone from Imagine care to clear this up? I'm already understandably cautious about subscribing, but I certainly don't want second rate mags arriving when I can buy them pristine from WHSmiths.

Mine have been in brown envelopes but have arrived perfect so I don't care.

what would you prefer? Other magazines I get come in very thin plastic wrapping which i would say offers less protection. I also get one magazine with the brown envelope. I have very little trouble. Only the smalest part of the spine is slightly scuffed. Maybe I am lucky and i have a good postie. I do not see why yours are so damaged, must be your postman hurling them through the letterbox.
You can sack that right off!!

I think most of the damage was likely caused by the CD previously anyway.

Both envelopes for my subs copy so far have been ripped in parts (though the mag have managed to remain intact) so it's probably my delivery service not being kind to it...

Two Imagine issues have arrived in brown envelope in good condition.
Before (from Live) I always had some minor defect + cd case was broken.

Only just had the time to subscribe, but I cant really see it being much different to the likes of EDGE, which come in tiny wrapping. Cant say I've ever had any problems with magazine deliveries, but I can understand how one's with covermounts might be damaged in transit.

Never had any problems with my subscription postings on the old Retrogamer. Magazine was always in very good condition and the CD case was never broken. No problems with my comlimentary copies of the new RG either.

What can I say? Haywards Heath must have a better class of postie.

Mind you, I'm still waiting for that copy of 'Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter' that I bought off eBay about six months ago :x

I'm happy with the current situation. I always presume it's some boring stuff from the council, so it's a pleasent suprise when it's RG!

I have to admit that the previous two issues, dispite arriving in brown envelopes have also turned up in excellent condition.

It would be good to get an official RG response to your problem though.

I have never had a problem either.

I did have to ring twice to change my address for the freebie issues after ish 2 didn't turn up, but the office staff at Imagine are a hundred times better than at Live and they sent me a copy that day in a big puffy jiffy bag.

Now there is no CD I am happy with the current situation.
