Last game downloaded in the Game Room?

Postby Spooky on Wed Aug 04, 2010 2:43 pm

I'm blatantly copying the "what games have you bought?" thread, but I think it might be useful here to learn about each other's latest purchase in the game room and maybe start new challenges if we see we all have bought the same game.

I'll start:
I've downloaded Ice Hockey and Jail Break.
Ice Hockey is probably one of my fav Activision game, even though I'm not a fan of hockey and I've never really liked sports game on the Atari 2600...

I didn't know Jail Break at all before, it's a fun little shooter but really hard!

Hello Spooky, I have about 6 Game Room Games, all Arcade titles. I'm not into Atari 2600 as I didn't start playing games untill 1983 - 1984 on the Commodore 64 and arcade, so 2600 games are of little interest to me.

Seriously considering Jail Break, it is bloody hard though, but I remember playing it in an arcade sometime around 1987, 1988. I loved it then, so it will always be a bit special for me.

Feel free to friend request me though.

Soldner-X 2 (better than first one in my opinion)
Secret of Monkey Island 2 (I LOVE the ability to hot-swap between HD and classic views at the press of a button!)
Pixeljunk Monsters
Final Fight/Magic Sword (both very good value for money)

^ all on PSN by the way

Final Fight/Magic Sword off PSN.Which is odd as:A-Played F.F to death over the years on MCD, various Retro compiliations on various formats. B-Tried the demo.on 360, was`nt keen to buy another version. But...At that wonderous price and prospect of online play? Easy choice. Buying and enjoying far more off PSN than Full priced retail stuff these days.

I think so... but I figured, since we're in the "Game Room" forum it was obvious...

Last downloaded Battlezone (Arcade). Good game that.

Prior to that, it was Pitfall! for the 2600.

I also wasted my Money on Jail Break as I remembered it being pretty good.. IMO the worst Games Room so far - Just a infuriating trail and error and the first level has to be memorised down to exact positioning which is choir.. Hang around for about a second and the screen fills with red bad guys with guns..

I managed to get the gold medals by memorising the level to a T, get Batman from crate, shoot of screen to kill gun man and Man hole, stay up top to get two female hostages, stay at bottom of screen shooting diagonally down, destroy two trucks, move to top off screen fire off screen to kill third truck that spits bullets all over screen..

I also got Scooter Shooter, Hero and Time Pilot.. I think 'Hero' the only game I managed to beat you on can't come anywhere near your other scores

8) Hero is a great game. I had never tried it before (even though I had it on the Activision collection on PSP) but it's truly amazing for a 2600 game.
I was proud of my score on time Pilot until I saw David GP's... then I lost my will to live!
Send me time-limited score challenges, that's the best part of the game room!

I rediscovered Jail Break last night.. .. I missed the comments in this thread and didn't know it had been released. I have very fond memories of this in the arcade so I was really pleased to see it. Time has taken it's toll however and after playing the trial I was in two minds about purchasing. But, with MS points already waiting and burning to be spent I took the plunge.

Damn, I didn't realise how hard this game is!! I don't agree with Shinobi that it's a memory test. The bad guys do move and attack differently depending on how quickly you progress and where you move so I wouldn't liken this to a shmup with set patterns. The hostages, static enemies and trucks are really the only enemies that you can be sure are going to appear at a certain points.

Did I mention this game is hard though? I'm still to get past the first level!! It's as hard as Weetabix welded to a cereal bowl. But, it has that addictive 'just another go' appeal by cleverly making you believe that success is just a game away. You die a lot but 'it's your fault. you can almost hear the game daring you to put in another 10p and try again. It's very clever and very good. .. .. in a frustratingly hard, evil, addictive and likeable way.
