I do agree that the way that Sonic moves really slowly when you control him directly is terrible! But I still do like the game (not a bad spin-off game really), although I cannot seem to get anywhere on the second level and only improved my score a little.

You can improve the speed of the pinball game itself by setting the speed to fast under options. I play the game on a PAL Mega Drive and it still plent fast enough
