Sonic, all the way. You can actually feel his personality when playing the games. Such a well defined character.

Mario, on the other had, is a boring fat bloke. Who cares if he shoots fireballs? So do many characters, it isn't exactly original. Sonic gets right in there and uses his physical strength and speed to take down enemies. Blue dudes hardcore, man!

But really it's for the same reason as PacSuit; Sonic the the reason I'm the gamer I am now.

I dont 'love' either of them to be honest, but Mario is inoffensive whereas SOnic is an awful character, about as appealing as chester cheeter, that insurance meerkat, or crazy frog.. utter rubbish.. an slick advertising executive's idea to be 'rad' and appeal to 'da kids' F*ck that blue c*ntbag

MArio's games are great to play, sonic games are awful.

Even Mario's bad games can offer some fun, whereas for the last trillion years since SOnic 2 on Megadrive there have been NO decent SOnic games, they are utter shovelware

so my vote goes for SOnic.. haha kidding, yeah Mario is much better, anyone who thinks otherwise should probably stop smoking the crack.

Your second comment intrigues me as Mario is a bland, fat plumber made originally as he was easy to create with the limited pixels and whatnot.. so how can he compare to the awful characters I mentioned like crazy frog etc?? Has to be Mario after all the terrible Sonic games. Mario in a game means it's going to be good Sonic in one now guarantees it'll be average!

Of the 2, Mario.
Mario Kart, Super Mario 3, Smash Bros Brawl, Mario Party, Mario 64.
Sonic tries too hard, and apart from the original game, has never really managed to compete at the same level as the Nintendo flagship.
I honestly don't know why they continue the franchise, have you ever played Sonic Pinball? Absolutely tragic.

To be honest the Virtual Boy Mario games are pretty decent, for a real test of Mario loyalty I'd suggest having a go at "I am a Teacher: Super Mario Sweater" on the FDS or maybe sampling the MSDOS related joys of "Mario Teaches Typing".
