Sin and Punishment by a country mile, although a special mention for Iggy's Wreckin' Balls, a lovely wierd platform/racer which vaguely put me in mind of Unirally for the SNES.

Well, none actually. Cause I was way too busy playing Resident Evil on the PSone back then! 8)

I remember going into a toy/game shop called beattie's sometime in the 90's and saw the N64 - brand new boxed(imac blue model) for £29.99 and various games ranging from about a fiver to fifty quid.
What a bloody steal (I thought), Mario 64 was good as were a handfull of others - but by and large this was the most disappointing console I had ever purchased. the controller was being marketed as the most revolutionary thing to have happened to gaming - and whilst not being in the same league as the crud that was the Jaguar controller, it was an akward controller to use.
That crappy fogging effect that appeared in loads of the games made them look terrible (I know the technical reason for it, but it did not make the games any less crap looking).
So you will probably gather that I am not the bigges fan of the N64.

Pushed for an answer - Mario64(though still not a patch on super mario3 on the NES or super mario world on the SNES).

One of my favourite subjects. :) The N64 has a lot of really good and exciting games that you can easily pick up today and that are timeless.

For me, the beste N64 game is still GoldenEye 007! Why? Because it was so revolutionary, so well designed with so much details and wellbalanced missions that I never stopped playing it. One of the best examples of an absolutely awesome game that made a deep impact on all the following "stealth/tactical-shooters". And it aged better than Ocarina of Time or Mario 64.

The N64 (or Nigel 64 to give it its full name) was the very successful successor to the Commodore 64. Built on roughly the same technology as its predecessor - with the addition of the now legendary "Added Swank" chip - the system shot to success with titles such as Extreme Donut Simulator and Horace in the Land of Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis. A steady stream of successful titles kept the system going until its demise, when it was accidentally shot dead in a turf dispute between rival gangs Sega and Nintendo.

Ocarina of time is the obvious choice but 1080º is my favourite. I still play it now and it has yet to be beaten by another snowboarding game :)

I didnt play many games on this console but of the ones i did, Body Harvest was my fave.

I liked the open world feel and the cheesy sci fi style.

Gotta say Super Mario 64. I have really fond memories of that game. Playing it for many hours to get all 125 stars. I guess I was a better gamer as a kid back then (or perhaps just more patient), because when I got for the VC on the Wii and tried it again, it quickly became very frustrating and difficult.

TheMightyMartin - thank you sir for that illumination. I too didnt know what the N64 was but now do and will, with this new knowledge, impart it onto my angelic innocent lambkin grandkids. I must also track down Exreme Donut Simulator also, it sounds cracking, and rather indeed, tasty.

I like a bit of Excitebike 64 myself although the N64 is very near the bottom of the pile of my fave consoles.
