I don't make a penny out of this (I loose far more than I gain). At the moment this is not fun and I am not enjoying it. I'll just let everyone else decide what they want to do, if they want to do it and when they want to do it. I'll shut up now and f*ck off. Carry on...

i personaly believe that an event in 2012 is too soon to worry about! i havn't decided what to do for the rest of this year yet! except for REPLAY of course! (still taking dip donations ;) ) and i also think that there is far too much sticky'd at the moment! i agree its time the photo thread came down, but dispite not being a fan myself, i dissagree about removing football threads just becouse you don't like the game!

I just don't see the relevance as football has nothing at all to do with retro gaming, and there is at least two people here that do not like football. I know this is Off Topic, but if the football thread is a sticky, why can't the F1 be sticky as well, and when the Olympics come along I doubt there will be a sticky for curling or muff diving. At least the gaming event threads are somewhat relevant to the forum. Still it's not for me to decide, and I am not even sure why I am posting my irrelevant thoughts about this.

WRESTLING THREAD AS STICKY!!! WRESTLING THREAD AS STICKY!!! WRESTLING THREAD AS STICKY!!! WRESTLING THREAD AS STICKY!!! WRESTLING THREAD AS STICKY!!! WRESTLING THREAD AS STICKY!!! WRESTLING THREAD AS STICKY!!! WRESTLING THREAD AS STICKY!!!

Ok maybe not
No offence is intended here, but the reason setting them up at computer club is easy is because all your kit is on site (no need to transport it all there and back), and there is not much of it (4 or 5 consoles?). Standard Consoles are easy to set up, but when you start setting up 15+ systems (think we had 30+ at RV in the end!) from 4 plastic boxes including Rock Band Instruments, PC's and real computers and rarer systems, and then start moving some around to get 60Hz USA systems to work full screen with CRT TVs and trying to get some of them to work on a projector, setting up and packing away is far more of a pain. If you think you could organise setting up and tear down at next years RV to make it easier and less of a pain you are welcome to help, as this is the part of events I hate the most.

Acutely I have been bringing some kit from home to it.
This has been games (some of the games there are a bit urgh), consoles (My 2600 and chipped Xbox are there in permanent residence and soon a Intellvison), pads and general stuff. I have also borght some stuff for there (what use do I have for Mutlitaps? Apart from saying "Yes I have one")
Id stick out more, but at the end of the day its only out for five hours and a lot of the games are multiplayer focused (DEATH TANK, Bomberman, Wario Ware, Warlords to name a few).
Id stick out more unknown stuff, but I dont have any real unknown stuff and it will probably not get played on (seriously I think I was the only person to play on that Action Max at that event in Huddersfield), but at the end of the day I do say to people "What you you want out"
It will be getting a bit bigger with the "Changing of the day"
Its not easy carrying all this stuff on the bus (not kidding about that, thankfully my back pack can hold a lot of heavy stuff and when I take it off I feel like I can fly)

Id be happy to try and organise a big event, but im more of a idea man/roadie and dont have the contacts/cash to put one on

Is the EUROGAMER expo any good? I've decided to attend as it's easy to get to. I also hear they've got retro games? Anyone been?

Servbot: yes, Eurogamer Expo is well-worth attending (I hear this year's show will be the biggest one ever, by far) and yes, there will be a good selection of retro consoles on offer, in addition to a handful of 8-bit/16-bit 'puters too. Oh, and there should be at least two retro tournaments running on each of the four days! :)

Meanwhile, I've just added the following events to the Calendar:

Hackers Delight
Haverhill Days-Inn Hotel, Fri 5th-Sun 7th August 2011

We'v posted on the forums here but I suppose it wont hurt posting here again hehe.
In November, anyone who was a fan of 16 Bit football games is in for a wonderful opportunity at reliving the glory years once more with the Kick Off 2 World Cup which is being held in Birmingham.
Previous events were held in Athens, Groningen, Dusseldorf, Cologne, Voitsberg, Rome and have been going since 2001 so this is a very big deal in football game terms. I only found out about them in 2007 myself and have been hooked since by attending many local tournaments as well as the yearly UK Champs.

So if you were ever a fan of 16 Bit football games (or even 8 bit for that matter) then relive the days where you had fun wiyh your mates in a quick fire football game thats easy to play, yet difficult to master (with the mastering being half the fun).

Kick Off 2 World Cup
Menzies Strathallan Hotel, Broad Street, Birmingham. 12-13th November

Should point out

Computer Clubs two nights a months now
Second Friday and last Tuesday

Friday nights wont have anything that is mostly single player. It will be mostly a multi player thing. Hoping to get a Lan gaming thing sorted for it.
Tuesday will have the computers out (c64, beeb and the likes) and can be used for any Homebrew stuff. (contact me about it first)
