Ren & Stimpy comics - help needed!

Postby TwoHeadedBoy on Sat Dec 03, 2011 10:56 pm

Alright, for some reason I've took it upon myself to organise all of my comics and magazines and stuff, all 20+ boxes of them (!), and I've hit a snag:

I have three issues of the UK version of The Ren & Stimpy Show, and these three issues have their covers missing, so I've no way of knowing the issue numbers. The entirity of the Internet has been no help, so I can only ask people who might still own them if THEY know the answers. It's a petty problem, yes, but it's still a problem nonetheless.

I need to know the issue numbers for these ones:
-"Yule Time Log" and "The Maltese Stimpy"
-The Powdered-Toast Man Vs. Spider-Man issue
-The Halloween-themed issue, which includes "Dogzilla" and "Goo-Gum: The Confection That Walked Like A Man"

I'm thinking there's at least TWO of you lot who might know the answers to these...

6 is spidey versus powdered toast man
8 is the maltese stimpy
13 is the halloween one
I think 3 is the yule time log one.

Cheers for that, Mr. Karp, but it's the UK ones I'm looking at, which had the stories in different orders, often combining a few of the US versions into one comic (for example, the Yule Log one and the Maltese Stimpy are both in the same issue). #3 of the UK version has them going into space also.

Thanks anyway though :)

^ Are you assuming I'm one of them?

Well, I'm afraid I only ever had two myself, and I lost them years ago.

Yeah, come to think of it, I was assuming THREE of you, the last is yet to speak up. For what it's worth, these are the ones I DO have the covers to, and their contents:

Issue 1 - Pizza of the Damned, Frankenstimpy, El Supremo Ren
Issue 2 - Kid Stimpy, The Organs of Doom
Issue 3 - (I don't have this one, but my cousin did, had something to do with them going into space...)
Issue 4 - ???
Issue 5 - Espresso Yourself, Wakka Makke Hoek Mekka Stimpy Ho!
Issue 6 - ???
Issue 7 - Ren & Stimpy's Casting Couch, U.S.Ohhhhh No!, All Things Strange & Wet,
Issue 8 - Bug Out, Pool O'Fools, Ambulance Chasers
Issue 9 - The King and We, Mars Needs Velcro
Issue 10 - Black Mail White Christmas Green Moulah, The Good The Bad and The Stimpy
Issue 11 - Now You See 'Em, In The Dark, Waiting for a Dog, Waiter Called Godot, Nobody's Home, Duck and Cover
Issue 12 - Obedience School, I'm The Cat, Baby Sitters
Issue 13 - Late Night with Muddy Mudskipper, Book of Records
Issue 14 - ???
Issue 15 - Are We There Yet?, Box Tops
Issue 16 - This Year's Model, Royal Canadian Kilted Yaksmen, El Supremo Ren (again!)

Huh... Only now do I realise I have all but one issue, which means the "mystery" ones (without covers) must be either issues 4, 6 or 14. I'll get to the bottom of this, don't worry.

There appears to be sh*t all info on the uk ones on the internet, which is a massive failing on the internets part, I'm fairly certain it was designed for this kind of thing. Oh and shame on you for having comics without covers on

Are these UK issues?

The covers look different to the american ones anyway, the auction says it's for issues 6 and 8 and seeing as you've already got 8 listed that would make 6 the Spidey v Powdered Toast Man one.

Yeah, those are the UK ones alright, and that WOULD make #6 the Spider-Man one! Also, going by the cover date of the first issue (October), that would place issue 4 as being January, the logical time to place the Yule Log issue, leaving issue 14 to be the Halloween one - mystery over, cheers!

Think that makes this thread here the most comprehensive part of the entire Internet with regards to the UK Ren & Stimpy comics, how odd. And I AM ashamed of not having covers on my comics, but considering I was 9 when I got them, and they've spent the years in various attics, sheds and carrier bags, I'd say that MOST of them have survived well enough :D

I love it when a plan comes together!

I'll let you off about the covers then but you should bid on that auction and you'd be able to replace one of your coverless issues.

I used to get the US versions of the comics, of which:

I've put a bid on those two there - I'm also missing the cover for Number 8, but somehow that one had the letters page in the middle rather than at the end, with a small box saying "Don't miss Issue 9!", which was fortunate. Also bidding on Number 3, so the collection'll be complete!

A nice happy ending.

There used to be a time when they put thing like the issue number and date at the bottom of the first page, things used to be so much easier in the old days :D
