Why didn't Nintendo think of this? They've lost it. Im fed up with them. I'm going to buy a playstation 7, it'll have better graphics and FIFA17.

Clearly if you are against one thing you are in favour of another, there are only two options after all. People who criticise zelda must like FPS's, fifa, brown corridors and watnot, that way what they say doesn't count, those idiots, what do they know?

Finished this bad boy this morning. Absolutely superb, I could probably nit pick about his and that but there's no point when so much of the game is really good. Can't wait to forget it and play it again! :D

I hurt my hand/wrist/forearm in the gym last week and haven't been able to play it  . I did make one attempt, which ended very quickly!

I think the problem is Zelda has just been round so long, some people are just tired of it. Though these people are still largely happy to play other similar action adventure/RPGs which might suggest it's more the IP they're tired of more than the gameplay or the concept. Zelda is 25 years so that probably it get's an extra kick in the balls compared to more frequently released franchises that are still considered young and current.

I can certainly see issues with this. I think a huge problem with Skyward Sword was the choice not to use faster paced voice acting and the silly decision to tell you what each item is over and over. To me it doesn't matter but it gives people the ability to nitpick.
What I have played so far has been so fresh for the series, new setting, new travel mechanic(which nobody seems to mention how awesome base jumping is!), new gameplay mechanic and even Zelda herself is more a heroine than ever. Just a pity it couldn't have been taken further to make it appeal a little more to adults.
The side quests should have been more designed around combat too, to really test the skills of the players.

Finished it. Loved pretty much every single minute. Second to last boss was epic and the last boss was damn good too.

I'd agree there wasn't a lot of exploring compared to other games, however if you knew where to read Nintendo did warn us that the size and subsequent exploration was going to be scaled back, as the game was going to be more focussed on the motion controls and the 1 to1 sword combat. Thankfully the game still wasn't as small and streamlined as I feared when I read that.

I'm enjoying the game and being a fan of the whole series I'm finding it great seeing how it all started and the origins of the Master Sword etc. but there are a few little things that I've found frustrating like when you start your game it has to tell you all over again the description of the treasure and insects. I think it did that with the rupee amounts in Ocarina of Time 3D too. If they are already in your inventory we don't need to read it again.

Also the game is an extremely slow starter running around while people of Skyloft explain the controls for an hour and half at the beginning. Wouldn't it of been better just to have a optional training tutorial for people new to Zelda games? Sometimes I asked myself why am I doing this like running around finding the little Kikwas in Faron Woods near the beginning when you could be getting into some proper action.

I know it’s a Wii and I wasn’t expecting full HD graphics but I can't help but feel a little disappointed in the graphics. It looks great when you’re not moving and things are close but when you’re moving fast and things are in the distance things look horrible like running towards the Fire Sanctuary. It’s all jagged lines and looks a mess. Sometimes they seem like GameCube graphics. I was playing with a component cable in 480p and things didn’t look right so I searched the internet and found other people thought the same. I switched back to a composite cable and am now playing in 480i (60Hz) and it has defiantly improved. You would think component would be better over composite. I tried 576i (50Hz) out of curiosity and it ran very slowly. On the back of the box it says it is supported by 50Hz/60Hz and EDTV/HDTV but you couldn't play it in 50Hz that slow. I’m now thinking the component cable was a waste of money because I haven’t really seen a big improvement on graphics with any Wii games apart from maybe Twilight Princess and some VC games are incompatible with it even with the component cable interlace mode e.g. Zelda 2.

But as I say I’m a huge fan of the series and I am enjoying the game. The bird flying is great and I love the diving. Though still can’t get the baby's rattle from the birds nest. :) The Beetle too is a great addition and a worthy replacement for the Boomerang especially when it’s upgraded. Am I right in thinking this is the 1st Zelda game without the Boomerang?

when you say a must, do you mean you actually have to have it for the game to work? or it just enhances it greatly... i bought it as a christmas present for my stepson, but i don't think he has a motion plus...

You need it for the game to work, it's a motion-plus game.

And since you're getting motion plus I'd highly recommend getting Wii Sports Resort, one of the best games on the wii.

I wouldn't buy a cheap motion plus, they seem rather unreliable. If you still have the game sealed, your best bet might be to take it back and try to get the limited edition. it is £20 more in most places but well worth getting a proper motion plus.

Official Nintendo add ons though are under a tenner in CEX. Official Motion Plus remotes are £40 new!!!

I chose a bit of a silly option and bought 2 x Wii Play motion plus (Red Wiimotes) for £32 each, could be cheaper on Ebay.

Sold the game from one of them for £15 So just under £50 for 2 motion plus controllers and a game, of sorts......

As I only had the original Wii motes it made sense. As already stated motion plus controllers on their own are £40.

Thinking about it you could probably get a 2nd hand wii with 2 remotes for £80 :?

Sounds a decent deal to me, i'm sure your stepson will be made up! And never ponder over money you've spent on games, it's the top of a slippery slope!
