My thoughts are with you Trev, it's one of the most horrible things in life having to put a pet down.

Night night, sleep tight, my Tilly Toast.

You have my sympathies, we had our Chopsy dog put to sleep on Friday, had her for 14 and half years.

We've got a GSD (Apollo) but he's only 18 mths, poor sod has been wandering round lost all weekend.

I'm really sorry to hear that too mate, we only had Tilly 4 yrs so i imagine the bond you had built up over 14 yrs was very strong. :(

Thanks for all your wishes guys, it means a lot. She wasn't just a dog, she had a particularly close attachment to me (our other grey, is all for the missus) so i've taken it particularly hard as she was always there beside me. It is something i have to deal with....but not very well at the moment, it has to be said. :(

Sorry to hear about that Sir :(

My Mrs is a vet at the RSPCA and as such sees a lot of animals put to sleep due to old age/neglect etc. She still comes home and has a good cry occasionally and that's over animals she hasn't bonded with at all. So It's not surprising that it's proving hard to deal with. Hope it eases up soon.

I've been told of 6ft by 6ft Salfordian bruiser types being reduced to tears over a tiny toy type dog, it's not just us soft folk

As it happens, i AM 6'6".... :) I'm not ashamed to shed a tear.

Fair play to your missus, that must be a tough job!

Youngest bro went through the same before Xmas. 'Chewy' had his own Facebook page (Muzzletoft, I think), and several obits were left. Bro and wife still feel the sadness. In fact, we've had a few dogs, certainly during our younger years; and it's hard to lose them at any time, especially when they are part of the family and not just for an image or whatever. RIP, all of them.

On a lighter note, I ordered online a few days ago and my purchase was waiting for me to arrive home from work: black, 3-button collar shirt by Vivienne Westwood. Ohhhhh..., nice! :D

Today I saw a bunch of protestors outside an abattoir that is on my way to the gym from the office. They were mostly women and either dressed in pig outfits or in bloodied overalls. Found it quite amusing initially, but then a lorry turned up laden with pigs which they naturally began to impede. When the lorry finally got through the pigs didn't looked sad, they looked contented and no doubt ignorant of what was about to happen to them. I'm no leftie or veggie but at that moment it somehow seemed right that these poor animals that have no voice of their own or means of defense and presumably no desire to die, should have somebody protesting on their behalf, whatever the complex political machinations going on behind the scenes.

Here's a report from a local paper on what has precipitated this. If you can stomach the video itself it's on the Animal Aid website.

I don't think they were trying to force people to go veggie, they're just concerned the animals were/are being abused.

^ You do get veggie fundamentalists though, with the emphasis on the mental.

Today i had a killer session at the gym, took the dog for a walk, booked a holiday to Cyprus for July (get me there now), then went to see a Chiropodist about a corn on my little toe that has been killing me for ages (feels like heaven now that it has been removed) and then went and chilled at my mates house for a bit.

All in all, it's been a good day.

Time for bed though now, work at 6! :(
