I'm kind of on the opposite side of the spectrum; as long as they're done with style, and offer a good challenge I'm all over games like this. Looking forward to Ninja Gaiden 3, Lollipop Chainsaw and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance*. Would be ace if the new Onechanbara game comes over here too! Not really too excited about Asura's Wrath, though.

It is kinda disingenious to reduce this genre to 'button mashing' IMO; try that crap on Ninja Gaiden and see how far you get! Games that do this well demand a huge amount of spatial awareness from players, and the ability to switch-up their tactics on the fly. It's a limited skill-set, sure, but going with that reasoning, you could call bullet-hell shmups 'dodge-em-ups'. :?

*Can somewhat understand the fan rage, though.

I agree, I enjoy any games like these that are challenging. I tried the 360 demo of Asura's Wrath yesterday and liked it for what it was, the cutscenes were awesome in an ott anime kind of way but there really isn't much gameplay to the game. I'll grab it when its cheap for sure.

Not really, its 99% QTE movies and 1% brainless fighting, nothing close to the awesomeness of Godhand. It looks nice though...

This was going to be the first game i splashed my cash out on this year but after having a go on the demo im in two minds. I don't mind QTE events but playing Knights Contract killed it for me. Might be a case of wait till its a tenner

^Try God of War,
It ruined it for me.
GOD HAND had button mashing QTEs, usually because there was something awesome going on (spanking, Fist of the north star punch offs, counter attacks)

I kinda wanted this game since the preview movie ages ago, but loads of QTEs kinda spoil games for me, id rather be wandering round punching people

I've been looking forward to this for a while. will be downloading the demo later!

Sometimes the style and visuals in games like this are enough for me. Eye candy is often a treat as is mindless button bashing. Sometimes i need to get away from the games that draw you in so much or require too much of my attention.

Talking of button mashing... i dabble in a little Dynasty Warriors every now and then......

Theres a new one coming out soon.
Mixes Dynasty Warriors with the anime One Piece.
THIS IS NOT A BAD THING! (still waiting for the Fist of the north star one to go sub £10)

Wow really? i never heard about this! I have the Fist of the North Star one but havnt got round to playing it yet. Did play the demo. my main gripe was that it wasnt violent enough (not like the anime anyway).

Warriors Orochi 2 was one of my fave. Wasn't to impressed with DW6 and havnt tried 7 yet. DW Gundam 3 looks ok (despite awful reviews but then again all DW games tend to get 5/10 or lower).

thinking about QTE's in games... i'm pretty sure Shenmue was the first game i played that had them.

This game really really stinks, the demo was a huge letdown.

I'm normally a fan of these games but this was just bad, there comes a point where you stop playing a game and end up with a MCD style FMV game

One Piece Musou screens:

Not really paid attention to anything One Piece so not sure how good this will be but I like DW style games...

Warriors Orochi especially, I loved the crossover between both series and now that the real Warriors Orochi 2 is coming (aparantly the one we got was only an update/expansion in Japan) I can't wait (over 100 characters, based on DW7 and SW3 with Ninja Gaiden characters also as Koei own Tecmo now). DW7 is way better than 6 from what I played. The combat system feels more refined (6 felt to shallow, even for the DW series) and the characters seem more individual again (nothing like some of the pallet swaps that certain DW6 characters wound up being)

Tried the demo yesterday. The graphical style is right up my street, the game looks fantastic :) Not much gameplay though and it seemed suspiciously easy. Like everyone else I'll wait for it to drop in price, they might as well sell it for £24.99 to start with, it will at least get some sales that way.

Its a great anime (its also one of the few ones that has been on track with out soul destroying filler episodes for over 500 episodes)

Basically its ripe for a conversion to the Dynasty Warriors series
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-sgqx88tj0
Main character is basically rubber thanks to eating a fruit that gives people different powers (tying to not use terminology from the series)
The guy standing next to him is his brother that has eaten one that eaten one that gives him fire powers
(The clown one can make his body parts come off and can control them, others have different powers)
One set back is once you eat one of these fruits you become a dead weight in water and sink

Its mostly set on water as the main cast are pirates.

To bad the game isnt 360 bound
