See I'd be suprised if the 64 didn't come out on top in the mag, even though I'd take the speccy over it any day, but then I'd take a BBC over them both :D

It has to be the C64. Yes, it was the first love of my life way back in the early 80's. My Dad bought it because he thought he would be able to use it for business as well as playing games. Fool. The machine was to be shared with my siblings as well. This didn't happen. It was mine, all mine. Ha Ha Ha!.
It Has since been replaced and with nearly 2000 peices of software (and still growing) my love affair with the beige bread bin hasn't dwindled.

I would just like to say I did own a Spectrum as well and loved Wheelie which I still play via emulation.

I'm a Spectrum man through and through!

It had better games and was more fun to play!

While the C64 had some great Titles, it always left me feeling slightly cold.

Whenever I play a Spectrum game today I still get the same fuzziness I did 25 years ago!

First I had a VIC-20, which was a great computer.
Then I had a ZX Spectrum because everybody else had one and we could all... e.r. 'backup' our games.

I never had either machine. I was an Amstrad gamer. I remember playing on a green screen monitor for ages until, what is still one of the best days of my life, my dad came in one day with a TV modulator tucked under his arm. I still remember that rainy sunday afternoon when I replayed every single one of my games just to see what they looked like in colour.

For the sheer fun, charm and the feeling of nostalgia, it has to be the Speccy. A wealth of great games to choose from; and as long as playability is high (which it is), quality of graphics and sounds is really rather moot. Sure, a fabulous tune a la Monty On The Run on the C64 is a wonder to behold, but not at the expense of tight gameplay for which the Speccy version exceeds at. There are some far superior games on the C64, but not enough to warrant it being the best system or my favourite.

And 'Speccy' has a better image; besides, I'm a Labourite.... :D

Nope, wrong party choice. I'm talking more of the slang/truncated word for Commodore....

C.64 all the way. I know the speccy had its killer apps but the solid quality and colour of the c.64s graphics and the absolutely wonderful music has to push the 64 into first place. International Soccer vs Matchday? No contest.

Commodore for me, lucky enough never to have touched a speccy.

Sure, wireframe games were slow and some games were a couple of quid more loading times could be pedestrian but...

Proper keyboard, silky smooth scrolling, no colour clash, joystick connectivity out of the box and the SID chip, hmmm the SID chip...

I never owned a Spectrum but my cousin on more than one occasion lent me a 128k with bags full of games. Standouts for me with Skool Daze and Back 2 Skool but also enjoyed the efforts of Codemasters with gems like Fruit Machine Simuator 1 and 2 among others. Quazatron was also one of my picks.

Never got the chance to use a C64...

C64 was the first computer I owned, and as such was my first computer love. I learned how to program on that machine and it sent me along a lifelong path in computing both professionally and privately.
A lot of my friends had a Spectrum and I couldn't see the attraction of their games, until I saw Knightlore! Whoa, what a game.

Nowadays I have a boxed C64 sitting in my study as a reminder of that great machine, and would really like to add a 48k Speccy to sit beside it.

Spectrum 48K. It was a British computer with games made for a UK audience, we'll never see that again. It was also the first games machine I owned so it holds a fond place in my memories.
