Interesting... but ultimately useless to most of us until they port it to something.
Technically of course if it's an arcade title someone could buy a PCB, but those are crazy pricey.
Hoping it's not just some alternate version of Daioujou. Though, they already did Black Label for that one, so that wouldnt make too much sense.
Misery you're such a downer man. This is amazing news, even if it's not concrete yet. Especially as a few days ago, all the banter about Cave focusing on phone games.gmintyfresh wrote:Misery wrote:gmintyfresh wrote:The plot thinkens with Dodonpachi Saidaioujou, it's starting to look like it's going to be a separate game and not the windows mobile game as previously rumoured. Useless!! I thought that this story is of interest to 360 import fans because of it's potential significance considering the last few Cave arcade releases have had home ports
All speculation, but interesting speculation...
Phew It all went a bit like that other forum there for a second.

I don't care if we never get to play it. If Cave are releasing a new arcade title (which is what they do, they release arcade games), then we should all be fecking dancing wearing our other half's high heels. Feck yeah!

oh, it's not that it isnt interesting or anything, I've just never seen the point of following foreign developers too much until a port or translation or whatever is announced. Or, in this case, a working ROM. Roms are screwy though. DDP:R and Akai still havent been emulated yet even (everything else has though).
Usually if someone tells me something that some dev in Japan is doing I just smile and nod, and then forget it about 60 seconds later due to lack of interest.
I used to follow Cave WAY too closely even before they considered porting anything beyond the PS2 ones, and all it really did was leave me irritated at seeing videos/news of games I couldnt play, lol.
I dont like to get my hopes up with these things. .....that and I'm STILL getting the idea that it may be another version of DOJ. I wish they'd name it something else if it isnt. I think that'd be the one possible game I *wouldnt* buy from them.
....that, and I've gotten used to disliking MOST news from the gaming industry recently, so I rarely have a positive view of any announcement.

They've never been big on that. Usually you dont get details until you finally see a proper video of the finished or near-finished game up and running in some arcade or something.
It's like, come on, TELL US STUFF!

You've got a point, the teasing on Monday was plain evil and we're still not any the wiser!! All we've got is some knocked up piece of artwork - they really must want to create some hype so they can sell more loli artwork covered pillows from their shop.

Blasted lolis.
I've nothing against that idea, in terms of actual artwork it can be fine and some people are into it, but....
I'm sorry, a shmup should be ships or planes or copters shooting at other ships/planes/copters and occaisionally at huge, extremely improbable giant flying thingamajigs.
Instead we tend to get little girls shooting at.... er.... well all sorts of random crap in some of these, but alot of the time (Touhou!) they shoot at... other little girls, because.... because.... oh, I have no freaking clue. I'll get a headache if I try to think about it too much. I'll just never understand the "lolis in shmups" thing.
Though my one exception to the "should be mechanical" rule is the Mushihime games. You've got one character riding on a giant freaking beetle of doom, and another riding on a dragon, also of doom. Fighting enormous bugs for some reason, which are filled with yet more doom. And squids, for some reason. And giant spiders, who DOESNT like giant spiders?
At least the bosses in that one LOOK threatening.
on the note of the shop though they do occaisionally get in some interesting things, but I swear the inventory just changes randomly every few days or something.
