1Up.com's brilliant Retronauts podcast has been a constant feature on my iPod over the past few years, always entertaining and I always learn something new.

I keep hearing a lot about the GiantBombcast, I really must start listening to it.

If anyone is interested, I host a monthly podcast focused around videogame music and retro games - The link to it is in my signature, I'd love some feedback from the Retro Gamer community!

There's a Battlefield podcast. Think I lasted through the first 5 or so before giving up due to boredom though.

I can't recall if I've asked this before, but I may as well ask again in case there's some new ones around:

Are there any good podcasts on 'free indie games'? There's a blog or two I'll hop onto once in a while, but that's a bit of a bind. I like my gaming info in audio form so I can listen to it while I'm commuting/working/doing chores and mags or websites aren't viable.

I've been enjoying some Iain Lee in recent months via the MSN podcast:
http://games.uk.msn.com/funstuff/podcasts/gamecast_35
(though I'd recommend the iTunes/RSS feeds as that site is hideous)

Its not necessarily the most informative podcast, especially as I'm not a big 360 gamer, but Iain on games is just so enthusiastic its infectious. I love how he genuinely gets excited/nostalgic/critical (sometimes all at once).

I've been listening to Retro Asylum (and 1HMPS before it). I find it quite charming, its obviously just a couple of mates chatting. Sometimes wanders off into topics undesirable (off topic personal stuff that isn't of great significance to the audience), but at other times its quite entertaining. Not a show for accuracy though, as there's not a great deal of research done beforehand and innacurate statements are often made (typically of the 'this was on Spectrum' when it wasn't variety - minor off the cuff things). I think its forgiveable though, since you're not claiming to be definitive and you'll usually tell us 'I think...', or 'I'm not sure but...'

Regional accents ahoy too.

Worth a listen. I'd suggest giving it at least a couple of shows to bed into your head, since the hosts can change from show to show and they're very different. On my first listen the regional accent made me go 'eeew', but now I'm used to it and I can enjoy the show a lot more. Not sure what the accent(s) are. Not as bad as Brummie but not one I'm used to from telly either.

The Twins was worth a listen, I think it was linked to when it originally aired on 1HMPS.

This reminds me, what happened to PForson's dulcet tones? I thought we were getting more Replay podcasts?

Howler of the week for Retro Asylum (to paraphrase): "Night Trap was made for some sort of console, but I don't think it was ever released because of the fuss over it".

You must at least listen to one episode of the show with Swainy. He's much more our era I think, really into the Speccy (though the others love the old 8 bits too). I do wonder if its Way of the Rodent's Swainy. I miss that site.

Hey there

Glad you are liking out little Podcast.

The way we structure/formula is like 2 friends talking in the pub.
I normally come up with a show topic and we just take it from there.

Don't know if you listen to the outtakes of our show at the end, but Glenn cracked me up last epiosde when I asked him about a game he liked back in the day but hates now.....it took him about 5mins to think of answer lol

Thanks for the feed back, episode 9 is out tonight, any topics you would like to hear on the show please let us
Know:)

1 last thing we got a few big names from retro gaming past in the next month or 2:)

Also availble in I tunes
Enthusiastic voices and a lot of content on the whole game, from level 1 till the very end. They also encourage you to play along and add comments. Unlike other more mainstream game podcasts they don’t sound like yelping frat boys.

2. Myst
3. Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth
4. Super Mario RPG
5. Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines

Would 2nd the recommendation of All Gen Gamers, one of my favourite podcast at the moment. Its american, but covers a wide range of games thanks to the mix of the youtubers who are one there. Well worth checking out, though will probably want catch up on earlier episodes though (any post Jason Heine is fine) to get some of the in jokes or long running jokes.

Operation Killscreen and Video Outsiders are both worth checking out, again cover all generations but these have alot of retro arcade chat and fighting games as well (compared to All Gen Gamers).

Would really reccommend RPGibberish which can be found on Youtube only. This done by Aerodynamisch and RPGswagman. Its still very small and early days (finished its first season) but is an excellent RPG podcast. They usually devote episodes to a specific game series or developer (they have done one of Mistwalker and Alterior series) and bring on guests who are knowledgable on these series. Anyone into JRPG's really should check out their channel. http://www.youtube.com/user/RPGibberish?ob=0

I've run out of episodes of Retro Asylum and Arcade & Retro.

Enjoyed both a great deal, my sort of podcast.

If you think the Asylum was regional, check out A&R. I need to track me down a copy of Resident Evil Tree ;)

Anyway, well done to all involved in both of those.

I didn't get on with All Gen gamers. Not enough retro content, too much shouting over one another. Not to my taste, I'm too old for that lark ;)

If you like retro game choons and remixes then my irregular little show One Man & His Mic is still being produced. Each show is devoted to either a different system / game or composer and runs for about an hour with more emphasis on the music rather than waffle from me.

Clicky the piccy below if you wanna give it a whirl. :)

I listened to the Oddworld episode today and liked it very much, good call.

Tried to listen to Operation Killscreen, but after 15 minutes of them calling each other out and not actually talking about games I gave up. Far too self indulgent, not very entertaining. Banter is good if it adds to the podcast, not so much when it excludes the audience. Inane drivel.
