Having total nightmares playing Grand Theft Auto III, just keeps crashing tons, emailed them so hopefully i'll get a response to my helpdesk ticket

Yep Shogun is great, i'll be unlocking this for sure. Did a lot of travelling the last few days, downloaded a lot of podcasts to listen to, found a few good ones.

Hopefully there'll be a few good games out tomorrow as always

Well its wednesday 11am which means the following games will be released at midnight tonight...

Awesome Land
http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthrea ... ost2117872

Looked a decent Mario knock off despite some garish graphics but probably £1.99 which seems dear for this game, thought it looked a 69p style game. Hope the gameplays good though

Reckless Racing 2
http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=121320

Looks like a good top down racer

Spice Invaders
http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=121324

One of these tower defense games, never got into them myself

Terra Noctis: Free Dreaming
http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=121325

This is a great platformer, apparently it didnt sell too well so theyve kinda re-released it hoping people will buy some of the IAP's. But a big shame it originally didnt sell by the bucketload as its really good

Gorilla Gondola
http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=121327

Looks different for sure ! Could be alright

Fly with me
http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=121329

A tiny wings clone but 'could' be quite good, just waiting for a gameplay video, only 69p

Reckless Racing 2 looks fantastic and if it's even better than the prequel then we're in for a treat. (I adore that racing game sub-genre so are fully aware of my inherent bias!)

Gorilla Gondola looks potentially quite fun in a play-it-on-the-bus/train kinda way so I might be tempted by that one too.

Thanks as ever, psj. :D

Apparently its free now !

Still cant believe its in the app store. If they added a championship mode to it i would be very happy

Maybe it's easier to get away with such blatant plagiarism if you don't charge for the app itself. It's probably full of ads now.

As for me, here's a list of puzzler "homages" you may enjoy, originals first, then the iOS equivalents:
Zoo Keeper - Animal Match!
Zoop - Color Shot
Lemmings - Nooms
Ishido - Shido
Klax - Star Burst

Short, but to the point. Only listed ones I couldn't find official versions of, and others that have already been mentioned (a la Chuck's Challenge).

A better iOS Equivalent for Lemmings would be Turtle Trench:

Most of the others like Chicks and Nooms run on Tile based-engines, while Turtle Trench is a pixel-based engine (like Lemmings and Worms). You can complete Chicks in an hour, there's not much challenge in it, while Nooms I've only just discovered but seems quite nice. Still working on Turtle Trench.

Caveman is pretty much a straight Lemmings-port (although they've changed the graphics), interface doesn't work so well and is a bit jerky on my iPhone 3GS, but otherwise if you're looking for Lemmings on iPhone then this is the one. As much as I like what they've done, I feel that $1.99 to essentially play a rip-off of an old Lemmings game but with changed up graphics is a bit steep.

I can't remember if I posted this or not, but Undercroft. It's a kind of Dungeon Master rip off, plus it's actually changed my mind towards this type of game. I've become quite drawn to it, and have ploughed about 4 1/2 hours into it, only managing to get to the second part. But, for a free game, it's worth a punt. I absolutely love it :D

Has anyone tried Riptide GP?

It's a futuristic Jet Ski Racer with Wipeout aesthetics and tricks instead of weapons. It runs at a silky smooth 60fps as well.

No multiplayer unfortunately, it seems more about leader board times. Worth 69p imo.

Yep, I bought that game a while ago. It has the cool addition in the options menu of being able to alter the level of graphics detail so those with older generation iThings can still enjoy a smooth frame rate.

I wish more games would have done that when i had my 3G, some things ran so slow or not at all on that. Now with the IPhone 4S I'm enjoying not having that problem!

Yep, I thought it a really smart idea and it's a shame more games don't offer it. I've an iPhone 4 and the game scrolled fairly smoothly on the default game/graphics setting. I lowered the slider bar in said game menu and the game now has silky smooth scrolling. The peculiar thing though is that I've not noticed any reduction in detail so that's a win!

I certainly hope more games have this feature as time goes by given that more new games will increasingly seek to take advantage of iPhone 4S's extra power but still need to be able to be played to an acceptable quality on older gen' iThings.

bit off topic again, but I have found a Sat Nav free app called Nav Free for mine which seems to work ok.

Also have been using an app called My Fitness App to keep track of calories/exercise in an attempt to lose some wieght nad have so far found it very useful. It's also free.
