The style makes me think of that one comic site.... confound it, now I cant remember what the name of the place is.... I've only seen it a few basquillion times....

http://theoatmeal.com/comics

That place, that's what it reminds me of. Some damn funny stuff there.

And back on topic, playing Raystorm. Apparantly I owned a copy of this on 360 the entire time and never knew it!

That's not the first time that one's happened. I can be so absentminded sometimes.

I had a bad feeling when I saw the Midas logo on it.
My instict was gright. This game is shite.
Its a really really really dull hack and slash.
One for the sale pile

That was almost a limerick. Let's just tidy it up.

I bought a game made by Midas
Whose logo leaves one undesirous
My instinct was right
This game is shite
I’d give it a score of D minus.

Ive been bustin out loads of rhymes.

More Xbox:
Ford Mustang - wasn't holding out high hopes but actually this seems to be pretty decent. Looks nice and the cars just "feel" right. Just a shame it's not really got a huge amount of content.

Godzilla Save The Earth - everything Godzilla should be, slightly shoddy and outdated, woeful dubbing and yet somehow still awesome. Definitely file under "big dumb fun".

Links 2004 - just like any Tiger Woods game from the last decade, until you get to the putting. Getting the power just right is so frustratingly fussy.

Saren has to be one of my favourite villans from any game series, I'd forgotten how great he is.
I did a similar thing months back. ME1 is a real grind in comparison to 2's near perfection, more action based gameplay.. i never thought i'd like it as I picked it up on a whim in a 2 for £20 deal one xmas. Turned out to be in my top 10 of all time. 3 is on it's way and may well be the only modern release (bar shmups of course), that i'll invest in this year.

New Super Mario Bros Wii.

It's no Super Mario World, but it isn't a bad game. The music isn't as good as the NES/SNES classics it riffs off of. It is nice to see Yoshi again.

There are some things I'm not very happy about. The random Toad rescue missions, for example. Sure, you don't have to do them, but it is hard to ignore his cries of "Heeeelp meeee". The other, more worrying, thing is the hidden room placement. I had this same issue with the DS version too - they keep putting hidden rooms in seemingly random places. In classic Mario Bros games, hidden rooms always had a pipe or a beanstalk or something you used to access them. Ok, occasionally they were hidden off screen, but they were still there. In NSMBWii there just isn't anything. You'll just climb to the top of the screen and suddenly be in a bonus room.

Even worse, they're sometimes disguised as death traps. Take the one in the desert, where you have to sink to the bottom of a quicksand pit to enter a bonus room. Normally this would kill you, but in this one case - and without any kind of indication at all - you don't die. NSMBDS had the same problem. You basically end up killing Mario over and over trying to jump down every hole. It sucks.

Cool mate it's interesting how your gaming has swung back to retro again, I must admit mine has been dipping between the two. It's strange with my 1st Mass Effect playthrough looking at the achievements I played it as a shooter and hardly used the biotic powers! Not like the sequel where they make the game a much better experience, the fact my character was at level 45 on the second playthrough on a harder difficulty level means I'm still breezing through this too. I'm certainly enjoying the second playthrough more than the original but it underlines the fact that the sequel is a much more enjoyable experience. I played through the ME3 demo this weekend, the game seems very good - more of what we've had before and damn it looks pretty.

Adventures in doujin shmup land continue. Downloaded Lightning Faith last night, think it's supposed to be a Touhou-flavoured Thunder Force tribute. It's OK-ish, seems very difficult.

And there's about 80 kersquillion doujin shmups out there, too.

Not fond of Touhou myself, but there's tons and tons of good games out there nonetheless.

Satazius and Crimzon Clover come to mind. Both of those are very good if you can get them.

Also the Gundemonium games (can be found on PSN or Steam)... I think that's how it's spelled... and Trouble Witches which can be found on XBLA. Those are all quite good.

Would like to get into Touhou, but I think they're not freeware? There seems to be a whole subgenre of Touhou tributes kicking around though. Looks to be a lot of quality doujin/indie stuff out there for sure.

EDIT: Whoops, that should be Thunder Faith, even.
