Blasphemer ! ;)

Think it looks great, love seeing recreations of old classic formats or games. Stardash was the other one which looked like an original Gameboy game which was pretty good.

Decided to give the new Prince of Persia a go so downloading that now

 I was fortunate enough to own an Atari Lynx from when it launched so rather understandably have always seen GameBoy for what it was, albeit that it had Tetris and the batteries lasted longer. GameBoy games looked utter garbage back in 1990 and nothing much has changed in the intervening years. The very thought of paying real money in 2012 to play a GameBoy-lookalike game on my iPhone 4 makes me want to  and do a facepalm. At least Star Dash sought to do something a little different.

Aaaaanyway...

Prince of Persia is a game that never really grabbed me back in the day. I know it's supposed to be one of the 'classics' that it's not considered 'cool' to not like but there it is. I totally 'get' for why the game was so loved by so many though and it's cool to see an iOS release.

Pah ! Not all about the graphics, gameplay is important. The Gameboy back in the early 90's was superb, better than that 'portable' (but make sure you're by a plug socket) battery drinking Lynx !!

Anywayyyyyyyyyyy....

Yeah i'll give this updated version a go, when i tend to get itunes vouchers i must admit i'm a bit more 'generous' when it comes to buying apps as it doesnt seem like i'm spending real money (get given the odd voucher or buy them in bulk etc)

Fancy Pants Adventures - quite enjoying playing this one. Simple but effective controls, a nice art style, good game mechanics and physics and a lovely quirky style of platformer. Damn, it can be frustrating at times though!

It's probably been mentioned years ago, but I recently downloaded Arkanoid to my ipad - it actually plays better than any version I've played, purely due to the 'analogue' way you can control the 'bat' (Vaus) and it looks graphically much better than even the arcade. Especially when you switch the backgrounds to 'retro'.

Plus it saves what level you are on - a godsend on this game!

Love it. Think it's gone straight into my top 10 Ipad games.

Oh yes, Arkanoid is particularly great on iOS. They really did a good job with that one.

Don't know if it's been mentioned already bit Guardian Saga is excellent, plays like an old-style turn based RPG.
Oh and Hatchi is brilliant too..basically a Tamagotchi that evolves =o)

It's statement like this that end up costing me money...
Downloading this and Kale in Dinoland now.

For any shmup fans (particularly danmaku fans),

go download Phoenix if you havent already. HD version for iPad users.

Seriously, go download it right now.

I just tried it out, and.... wow. This is impressive.

Procedurally-generated content.... enemies and their patterns are all made up as the game goes along.... and a really great scoring system that goes hand-in-hand with the game's rank system. There's cancelling in this, you can pick enemies apart by targeting specific turrets; when a turret pops, all of the bullets it was firing change to gold, which is then sucked in by your ship. You can get alot of points from single foes that way, by popping each piece before finishing them off... great risk-reward sort of thing. Some shmups do this, like Raystorm, but usually just with bosses, this one does it for EVERYTHING. Also has a good set of powerups that you can hold (one at a time) and activate when needed, which can also change scoring tactics depending on how you use them.

Also, the generator never creates impossible patterns, but it sure can do INTRICATE ones. I'm most impressed by that aspect.

But really, the whole game is really good.

It's free, though if you want the other 3 playable ships, they're a dollar each. The ability to use scoreboards is also a dollar, that one's a little odd, but... whatever. I dunno why they didnt just make the game cost $5.

I have no idea what that translates to in terms of the currency most of you on this forum seem to use.

Either way, brilliant shmup. Another one that makes me wanna get the iCade accessory.

Anyone else use Gamecentre ? Never used to bother with it much but its quite good fun competing with other friends for scores etc, if anyone wants to add me i'm psj3809 on Gamecentre.

Been playing Retro Racing a fair bit and trying to beat friends lap times.

Currently been playing the Bards Tale a lot, love the game, just a huge hefty filesize!

I use both Game Center and Openfeint. Both nice services for that sort of thing, and also for leaderboards for score-focused games.

I am Cubia55 on both.

I do shmups more than anything else, but I've got a bit of everything on here.

Nice surprise just turned up in New Zealand (means it'll hit the UK at 12am)

Mass Effect Infiltrator
http://itunes.apple.com/nz/app/mass-eff ... 04040?mt=8

Gonna be a whopper (630 meg) and priced probably about 6 quid or so (still cheap really). From the makers of Dead Space so this should be great quality. Looking forward to seeing videos for this later

Also this has just come out...

Gazzel Quest
http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=124651

Watched the video, like the look of this, thought it was an RPG but its like an old skool vertical shoot em up. Getting this now, its free to try and there'll be an IAP to unlock it
