Ok I downloaded the K-fusion thing. I haven't got a pad for my PC so tried using directional keys, could only go either up and down or left and right so was a bit tricky :) I'm on the leaderboards, need to get a pad.

Fightersmegamix - 141,820 - stage 2
Good to see a submission from you. Sadly i didnt have that spare PAL cart. mustve sold/traded it. I picked up a cheap usb-ps2 thing. works a treat and cheaper than a crappy pad. You can get them for any console input i think..

That's a bloody heroic effort for keyboard!

Keyboards are totally viable.

Also good to see some new blood. Hopefully competition will improve, though I'm begining to wonder if Arrow Flash was really the best choice we could have made.

Yeah not the most exciting or challenging shmup but I have enjoyed chasing the 1CC. Not sure I'm too worried about improving my score though. A few more 1CCs and I might have to though

Problem here's gonna be that you can get perfect results for 1-4, then faffing up 5 means you may as well reset. Even then, it's a question of not missing too much. :x Been giving it a couple of credits here and there, but not bettered my score yet.

But still, just to play the game casually is fun, nice chunky sprites and decent music. The bosses feel like an afterthought for the most part though!

The bosses are a joke to be fair. Any shmup where you can exploit a level by staying in one spot without moving makes me wonder whether they tested it properly. I quite enjoy the second half of the levels. In particular 2, 3 and 4. Not long to go til end of the game time now anyhow. I'm going to put some credits in at the weekend. Haven't played anything this week yet, except a quick test credit on Phelios.

Sure thing, buddy! :)
I'm a little rusty on AF, here's hoping I'll at least be able to come close to my latest score....

This is a nice thing you guys have going on here, thanks for the invitation. By the way, I have extended it to a few more people, let's see if they'll show up.

You should see it in the PS2 version's Death Label mode.

Fire it up and give that mode a try if you havent (trust me, one way or another, that mode doesnt take very long). It's worth seeing. I keep wishing Cave would add that same mode to more of their games, but they never really do. Except the DS Ketsui, but even then it wasnt QUITE the same.

This mode:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiT04G9a9rY

I knew I had a video of it sitting around somewhere.

It doesnt show off Hibachi's very final attack.... I died just before getting there.... but you've seen his third form, the small bee, does that horrid tornado attack as it's final assault.

Well, this mode, for that third form, there's TWO of him, at the same time. Imagine what that attack is like there, lol.

Seriously though, I really wish they'd bring this mode back in..... any of their games, really. It was SUCH a blast. Though it took me AGES before I could defeat the first boss, let alone the second or further.

^ How are you getting on with using Charged Arrow Flashes? Are you just identifying good times to use it throughout, or saving it for bosses etc.? Charge-up time seems painfully slow. Oh, and welcome! :D

There's a charged attack in this?

Yes. There are 2 types of arrow flash usage. Stock and charge.
Stock: you collect 'A' power ups and stockpile them or lose them if you die.
Charge: you have infinite arrow flashes but.. You have to build up the power gauge to unleash it by hold the required button. And then wait for it to recharge to use it again.

Feh, sounds kind of annoying. Not a fan of "charge" attacks in shmups.

Ah, likely I'd forget about it anyway, whenever I get around to playing this.
