Did any1 else find Super Street Fighter 2 Arcade overly hard

Postby ArcadeMYK on Wed Mar 14, 2012 4:26 am

I swear that everytime I play it I can maybe defeat about 2 or 3(if I'm lucky) enemies in a row, but then the difficulty seems to go through the farken roof..

I can pretty much single credit Street Fighter 2 Arcade on most days, but when it comes to SuperSF2 it just kills me.
Does anyone know if the PCB's for SSF2 can be toyed with and dip-switched to ultra-hardness?? or is it just that game just set to "super-money-making coin bank" permanently?

Have I been that unlucky that everytime I've played on a SuperSF2 machine that they all just happen to be set on hard??
From Game&Watch to PS2 and Arcade in between, its been so much fun every single step of the way.

Both Super Street Fighter II - The new challengers and SSFII Turbo are CPS2 boards so hitting the test switch on the board and selecting option 3 (System configuration) will allow you to change the difficulty.

Super SFII Turbo is really freakin' hard. I owned the CPS2 board back in the day, and even setting it to '1' on difficulty it's still rock hard. It's much more difficult than all the rest - are you sure you weren't playing Turbo? (or 'Super SFII X' which is the Japanese name)

Just normal Super isn't really that difficult at all, only the new Challengers are at first until you figure out their patterns and movements.

The Xbox Live arcade version is loads easier incidently.

I had no troubles with normal SSFII bar it feeling really slow and boring.

Super Turbo is a weird one. The AI for the USA version (not sure about euro) is really tough and I struggle to get anywhere on it. Switching the region to Japan seems to make it noticably easier (though still no walk in the park).

Yeah the US CPS version is really difficult, but only because it's notoriously cheap.

Stick with the JAP version of SSF2X grandmaster challenge - I think it has probably the 'most human' one player AI of all the fighting games. Sometimes in a one player session I swear we're playing mind games and phyching each other out - as only a deep level two player game can do, thats enough for me!
