So is Tetris The Absolute The Grand Master 2/PLUS a better game than both Tetris The Grand Master 3 -Terror Instinct- and Tetris The Grand Master 4 The Masters of Round then?

A matter of opinion. 2.Plus was a give away to owners of original so shoulnd't really count.

no.3 i have always found to be a poorer representation of 2's balance of background and game. number 1, built the the path for 2.

No 4 i've only played once, it didn't live up to expectation, I hear the king version is good though. I also am not sure on the legitimacy of the game as i always thought it never made it out there.

If you wana get anal, I guess you can say Sega Tetris 1988 is the best as that's the game all others build from/rules from.

I also owna GM2 board, so that's also a preferance.

Games computing, which is part of Computer Science.

I just think it would be nice to have a truly perfect game; one that would never get old, and one that you'd never want to play anything else over. I'm deliberately focusing my Final Year Project on Automatic Content Generation, in order to at least satisfy the first of those two conditions. Along side various other side projects I'm working on, I've planned 90% of a game which will take me about eight years to make, the goal of which is being that perfect game. It'll probably fall short, but if at least one other person thinks it's perfect, I'll be happy.

Whilst i'm sure any game created could be improved apon, i'd say the following pretty much nailed it, in terms of sequels to or games since have failed to match:

Bubble Bobble (Arcade).
Xcom (PS1/PC/Amiga).
Demon's Souls PS3.
System Shock 2 (PC).

That's off the top of my head.

Nice. I'm getting some significant results with Adaptive Track Generation (main focus of the dissertation), but I'm not good at writing words, so it'll be a struggle during this next month.

Nothings perfect...not even me.

As Vandal Hearts is my favourite game, i'd say that was as close to my own idea of gaming perfection as is possible.

Ocarina of Time got as close as I would ever imagine, inevitably as the years have gone by people have picked fault with it...but...if you were there 'at the time' and were into that type of game nothing touched it!

Jet Set Radio Future, Pokemon Red, Halo Combat Evolved & Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

Perfect at time of release I should add (Pokemon has gotten easier and more convenient to play as it's gone on, better interfaces etc. Red was the best though).

I didn't think they could improve F-Zero X, Banjo-Kazooie and Crazy Taxi. Turns out - my opinion here! - they couldn't.

I don't think there's any room for improvement on the basic OutRun 2 game engine either.

Why Red? May I ask.

It's no different to Blue sans a few Pokémon changes.

For this reason I always opt for Yellow. Follows TV series a little bit more closely and has a lot of the broken as hell glitches fixed.

Red has Charizard on the cover

The glitches were what made the game awesome too! Missingno was a Primary School legend!

Yeah, MissingNo is neat but it ruined any competition for me in my school. Everyone else had blue/red and cheated to get their Pokémon to level 100, thus gaining no effort values and having weaker Pokémon overall.

Pokémon made school trips great fun. I used to spend all my money on batteries..

And fair enough, I know many people who had a red/blue preference which came down to simply which the owned originally. I never actually owned a Pokémon game until Yellow, although I'd borrow my mates to raise Pokémon for him. I think thesave game still exists that I did most of the work on, I should dump it really.

I did eventually get Pokemon Yellow (years later) and it didn't feel the same to me. I liked the way they tied events to the show but because of that it felt more like you're playing as Ash than you are as 'Generic Trainer'

I like that more personally, although it's obvious you're playing as Red in R/B.

Pikachu is the best Pokémon and he's pretty cool in Yellow so that was nice too.
