i'm refusing to give up til i break 850k this morning. Just hit a 793k and a new pb of 829k.. i'll keep going then post a pic, but not sure how much more of the stages 1-4 grind i can put up with. The f'word is all my vocabulary can extend to right now. Thankfully it only takes about half hour to clear the game so not too bad and i have another 4 hours before bed.

Finally realised I can go all out offensive in stages 5 with the mech so the enemies can barely appear on screen. The s5 mid bosses i'm trying to do without arrow flashes so i can preserve them and go into the later ship and dragon parts with full stock and it should make it easy to clear all enemies. Only just discovered you can bust through walls with the arrow flashes. When the paths split and you have enemies on both levels, it makes for easy points.

This is so doable if i can keep my cool for just a few more credits...

*breathes*

Oh and who the hell designed these bosses? There's safe points for nearly every one.. Some challenging bosses could've saved this game from being so damn dull.

This is it. I am now never playing this game again. Sadly no 1LC as I died just before the boss and arrow flashed my way through the final wave of enemies. This score is beatable, but i cannot face doing another playthrough.. ever!

Missed a fair few enemies in Stages 1 and a few in 3, some of the lazers in the stage 5 ship area and a few in the final dragon part. With full stock of arrow flashes going into the ship area it's possible to clear all the enemies out... almost.

AmidstStorm - 859,510 - ALL CLEAR - Stock - JAP MD

i'm now off to have a little cry as RF makes my eyes hurt and get my heart beat back down to normal levels.

Lol, congrats on that one.

You have waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy more patience than I do to put up with that game for so long. If only the game's pacing had been better! It really did have potential.

Hoping for a Psikyo game for the next one. It'd be amusing. Aggravating, but amusing.

Yes indeed. It was painful but I knew it was more about me keeping my cool than actually having to use any skill. i'm still on edge. Been playing some Ketsui, Shiki 3, Mushi and DDPDF just to bring me back to reality. All look fantastic in Tate by the way :)

Thinking about nominations for sure. I tend to hit about Stage 3 bosses on Psikyo games and i'm out. Normally about 250-300k max. I'd like to play one of those though, so we will see how the nominations turn out. Not long now Misery. I have another game in mind and it's a hell of a good Arcade shooter, another Hori though. One of the few I actually enjoy.

Good score there AMS. I'm up for a Psykio vert, anything with short punchy levels and a random stage order would be great. The two games we've picked have been fun for a few hours, but the first few easy levels have been a real battle of attrition. You get that with every shmup but these two took the p*ss a bit :)

Nominations for next game seem to be heading to a Psikyo vert, that's cool. Strikers 1945 Plus might be too brutal but it's a good pick. Just like Dragon Blaze.
If I understood correctly, it's just one pick for each top 5 scorer?

I was also thinking of Raystorm or Raiden II.

Oh dear out of the top 5. Don't really want to go back to the game now, though, especially since I just got Mass Effect 3. Psyikyo is fine by me, though for what it's worth I was thinking of nominating Omega Fighter.

Yeah top 5 pm me one nomination each. I them announce all 5 at the same time and then all previous score submitters from the last game get 2 votes each out of those 5 games.

Don't pick a psikyo game just because we've been talking about it. Variety is good and the latter 2 you've mentioned are good choices. I've decided to go with a non psikyo game now. :)

Edit: Thinking about it Raystorm was released on a mass of formats. I have the HD remake on XBLA and Layer Section II on the Saturn. Which is your prefered version. I assume you have the PSX and Saturn versions?

Sadly I had the same problem. Decided to shelve mass effect for a rainy day so I can concentrate on mars matrix and the next league game. Not heard of omega fighter? Is that a pal release name of a jap shooter? Something pc based or indie? Doesn't ring any bells?

Yknow I thought you had gone quiet. Either waitin for the next game or gonna throw down a game winning score last minute. I had actually considered holdin my score back til deadline but didn't seem right, plus wanted to perhaps spark some last minute play and competition out of this dead horse.

1989 arcade game with some neat proximity scoring. I've heard some good things about it and it looks pretty ahead of its time. Never got round to giving it a test run though.

Arcade exclusive eh? Bet it's pretty old skool. I'll fire it up in mame if I get the chance.

Raystorm is utterly brilliant.

I've quite gotten into that one recently.
