Sad to see another retailer go and the loss of jobs it will involve. I have never really understood why some towns have several games stores, Brighton alone has 2 Game and a Gamestation all within 1/2 mile walk of each other. Online retailers certainly easily undercut places like Game so it was only invitable this day would come.

Reading the link it looks like all the Gamestations could be axed to save the company.... but to be honest i prefer Gamestation, a bit less generic and a bit of retro, although when i went into my local one yesterday, all the retro had been taken off (or sold) the shelves.

Agree, the "Game" brand is worthless now, Gamestation probably has a better reputation with most people.

Sorry to hear this for the employees who could be out of jobs soon.

Their prices were always a bit on the high side though. And the selection was always lacking a bit in recent times. Had not bought anything in there in a long time bar a few second hands before xmas.

Everywhere on the web people are saying Game's secondhand prices were too high and their trade-in prices were too low.

If Game had followed that chain of thought they would have been out of business years ago...

I feel sorry for the employees, regardless of the type of service they gave, a lot of it came from the bosses telling the employees to push the sales and chase the customers around the shop pestering them all the time.

As soon as they bought Gamestation, the writing was on the wall imho.Such a shame to see them go after what they did for the industry, particularly in the 90s.

Totally agree - never had a problem with this - even at the till. Compared to Comet (which I popped into today) where about 5 or 6 members of staff follow you around the store the GAME stores in Glasgow are bliss.

Had a look at the one at Victoria station this morning, a lady at the counter was buying a gift voucher! I really didn't know if I should point out to her she really needs to spend that by the weekend! The chap behind the counter was been very helpful and polite though, felt sad for him that he might not have a job come next week.
