Once HL3 is done, Valve need to do a Prequel to HL2....

The Seven Hour War, which is what happened after HL, before HL2, where combine invade Earth, talked about in-game and seen in newspaper headlines, but i want to play it, damn it.

Plus it uses that FPS staple of...level after you've amassed horde of kick-arse firepower, we're going to take all the guns and stuff away from you and leave you with just the gravity gun.

No, give me set pieces i can try out my new toys-papa got a new toy, wants to play...

They gave you Ravenholm for that, well for the gravity gun anyway. And the bit when you get the revolver for the first time. The combine soldier bursts through the door, only for Mr freeman to promptly blow him back through it :) That was a serious wow moment for me.

I only finished playing Half Life 2 on Xbox last night! And as my computer is old and the Wii is the only "modern" console I have, I don't imagine I'll be playing HL episode 3 any time soon. I'm not even sure if it's worth me buying the Orange Box - I just don know I my 5 year old computer will cope with it (wasn't exactly cutting edge when I got it) so instead I bought a copy of Half Life Generations from Oxfam and I'm going to go back to where it all started!

I've never played Half Life 2. I was a pc kid when it was new and didn't fancy that Steam lark. Not one bit.

IIRC there was a PS2 release ?

There was an xbox release, but I dont think it came out on ps2. I have it via the orange box on the 360, it really is a must have title for 360 owners.

That's right. Only the original Half Life came out on PS2, Half Life 2 is only on PC and Xbox, and Xbox 360 and PS3 by way of The Orange Box.

I remember GameCentral slating the original Xbox port of Half Life 2 when it first came out, but I've always thought it was impressive as hell. :)

Gamestm (although never reviewed it as such) also slated it, no idea why, entire PC game was fitted in, plus it had better lighting. The 'beef' seemed to be lower resolution, well F-me with a graphics card, course it was lower res, it was outputting to a TV.

Along with Doom 3 and Far Cry, PS2 deemed not powerful enough to run HL2, so no conversion.Valve did superb job fitting it on Xbox as was and only to compare PS2 Just Cause (awful) to Xbox Just Cause (lush) to kinda understand why PS2 just was'nt best suited to it.

Never knew that. To anybody who's played it that should sound absolutely ludicrous.
It looks and plays (if you like that type of game) brilliantly.

Personally, I couldnt stand the Xbox version, graphics werent the main issue. It was the ridiculously long pauses while the next section loads in, far too long. Perhaps I was spoiled by the PC version. More than happy with the 360 version though.

To be fair to the hardware it only had 64 MB of Ram (whilst still lot higher than G.C or PS2), Xbox was always going to have comprimises made when converting PC games to it.
