The plant was an aspidistra, referred to as Uncle, the High Rangdo of Arg. And you had to gronda (by pulling your forelock and bowing) before him.

Challenge did show two series for a while, but I believe they no longer have the rights.

I do remember, that in one of the episodes, that one of the contestants had to give him a gift, and was told that he doesn't like novels! Only sort of thing that sticks in my head about that part of the programme.

It was more like the sound of a games industry veteran farting into a bowl full of blancmange...

Quite the weirdest programme, used to be on around the same sort of time as Monkey Magic (and Harold Lloyd shorts) on BBC2, and equally as terrifying/confusing. Wasn't Moira Stewart in it (The Adventure Game, not Monkey), or am I dreaming - I often dream of Moira Stewart.

Yeah, she did appear on one of the episodes as one of the characters in the first series. I do remember that. Lots of other celebrities went on there.

Gronda Gronda!

I used to love this, I think possibly the first thing I ever remember watching and feeling like somebody was making TV for me.
The vortex thing at the end was terrifying - watching some of your favourite celebs stumbling blindly to their doom, ignorant of your screams of "IT'S THERE!!" at the telly...ahh I feel all warm & fuzzy.
There is no amount of technology that will ever fully compensate for the depths of human stupidity.

I remember the Vortex bit very clearly and always been worried about them falling into space or getting zapped by that whirlwind thing

I've got all of Knightmare on DVD and, while it was fantastic, that was the from late 80s onwards while Adventure Game was the tail end of the 70s so they are both very much of their time.
But yeah, Knightmare was excellent, especially the 2nd or 3rd group who died in the 2nd room to the bomb lol

Oh come on! The BEST of them was the Welsh lot... "Simon, sidestep left"

And yes - it *is* up on Youtube...

Yep, I remember the vortex game only came in a later series. That one used the colour/shape pathway as the way out. Though I thought you had to alternate shape/colour, rather than just use either as a safe square.
