Star Trek 2009 - to boldly dumb down where no producer has dumbed down before.

To be fair, the overall plot was good and there was some gret acting - Karl Urban as McCoy, Zoe Saldana as Uhura, Simon Pegg and Leonard Nimoy's cameo. But the visual look of the film was all over the place, and the writer just spliced in Mad Max (the drill fight), Point Break and The Empire Strikes Back (how did Ambassador Spock end up on Hoth? I was waiting for Nero to say he was Kirk's real father in the docking bay).

And it's rare to root for an inanimate object, but I was rooting for one of those ledges to end Chris Pine's arrogant Kirk. Too many dliffhangers! Instead we had to put up with the deth of Spock's mother Amanda and the Vulcans as an endangered species.

Now I'm off to implde some red matter on J J Abram's desk so it goes back in time and creates an alternate universe where this reboot never happened.

Yes, although there are threads running through them all. Series two threw me - the first episode was like watching a completely different programme, there was nothing connecting it to the first series!

Series 2 is the docks, series 3 (my fave) the politicians, Series 4 the school, series 5 the media/journalists. But all connected. You sort of look back to series one and think how simple it was!

I've only watched the first two episodes, but Homeland really isn't doing it for me even though I loved Damian Lewis in Life. Will stick with it for the time being though.

Just watched Robin Hood Prince of thieves on Channel 5. Yet it was some alternative directors cut or something, although the listing didnt say so. Definitely a few extra scenes in there that I have never witnessed before. Yet strangely enough, the hangings at the end seemed to have been cut a little. Why? Its like, 11pm ffs!

Hmmmm, that must be interesting. I remember when it first came out, it was cut for its video release(there were scenes missing from its cinema release, if you see what I mean). It was on Film '91. It things it involved the torture scenes at the beginning. I don't know what the current DVD release is like. It is quite strong for a PG - after all, Marion nearly gets raped!!!

I do prefer the old ITV(then HTV) series 'Robin of Sherwood' by the way. 'Robin - the hooded man!' :D

I watched the final disk in my Breaking Bad Season 4 set. All I can say is that this season has been amazing. It is up to Dexter season 4 levels, in quality terms. The ending wasn't surprising and it wipes the slate clean for the next season. I can't wait for that. Has anyone else seen season 4 of Breaking Bad?

Last night, I watched the following :-

Touch - Great stuff from Tim Kring(creator of Heroes) and Kiefer Sutherland. It does have a lot of similarities with Heroes(cinematography, the use of voice overs, etc). A really good drama. I just hope it doesn't follow Heroes path, and have an amazing first season and rubbish follow-up seasons.

True Blood - More from season 4. A pretty good season so far.

Fringe - Episode 14 from season 4. This one was a game changer. You found out something important. That is all I am allowed to say. I hope Fringe gets its 5th season. There still seems to be a lot more story to tell.

Yeah we really like this too, but has the "heroes" potential to go on and on and on and on and on....

21 Jump Street last night - was quite good, some really funny parts and Jonah Hill wasn't his usual pain in the arse self. 7/10 for sure!

Do you find yourself thinking of 24 when watching it? I keep expecting him to pull a gun out.

I saw that about a week ago, it was a lot better than I thought it would be actually, very grim in places for a 12 cert film too....definitely one of the better 'ghost' films I've seen in recent years though, and a hell of a lot better than garbage like Paranormal Activity and Insiduous.

I still want to see that. Mind you, after watching Paranormal Activity 3 a few nights ago, there was enough trouser brownage between both me and the missus to make Andrex weep.
