Hmm, Harmful Park.

Find it easy though.

Would enjoy Axelay, Gradius V, Zero Gunner 2

they're all in my opinion great shooters, infact some of the best.

I was thinking Gradius V too, it looks pretty goddamn good on the PS2 it look even better with a HD lick of paint and an arrange mode.

I think I'd like a version of Einhander, love the game but that graphics engine looks so dated and it wasnt that pretty in the first place!!

I have to admit I've never played any of the thunder force games

I'd like to see the original donpachi and dodonpachi resurrected. Pro gear no arashi, gunbird 1&2, and still hoping they release a physical release of radiant silvergun and ikaruga which will prob never happen.

What we all really want to hear is about death smiles 3 or a new akai katana. Cave will squeeze out another hori next. I can feel it :)

Progear I agree with.

.....I *really* cant think of many others that I actually think would be worth a physical release. I think I really do have physical copies of everything I would have wanted in such a form.

As for Cave working on current stuff.... ahh, for the time being, I've stopped following them. Mushi apparantly being their FINAL port for the 360, I'll not start caring again until I hear wind of more ports to.... whatever platform they'll choose later. I know Saidaioujou is their current thing, but..... feh. Dont care. Arcade version, cant play it. Though it's honestly looking like I wont be caring about THAT one even if it does get ported. Looks like it plays like DOJ and just DROPPED all of Resurrection's mechanics.

At some point though, hoping they do a Ketsui sequel.

I think SDOJ's system sounds really promising. Some new details emerged recently:

-Your GP meter (=chaining meter) rises when you defeat enemies or hit things with your laser.
Kill an enemy or hit something with your laser before the GP meter runs out and your hit count rises and you get the GP bonus.
-Scoring items received from destroyed enemies are larger when your GP meter is higher.
-When the GP meter runs out your hit count and GP bonus multiplier reduce by 30%
-You don't receive any GP bonus from the bosses. You can only increase your hit count on them.

-Hypers can go up to Level 10. When you activate a hyper all the enemy bullets on the screen turn to score items. In addition, these things vary depending on your hyper level:
-How much your attack strength rises
-How many more items you get when the GP meter is maxed out
-How much of a hit boost you get from destroying enemies and hitting lasers.
-How much of a multiplier you get on your GP bonus
-Duration of GP meter will double (if your hyper is at a certain level)
-How much the rank raises, how difficult the game becomes

Ways to increase your hyper level:
-Get score items (only when you're not using a hyper)
-Hit enemies with your laser to increase hit count (your hyper meter raises faster when you have a higher hit count)
-Collect bee items (your hyper meter will raise more here if you have a higher hit count)
-Hit the aura of a laser.

It does seem to be more of an evolutio of DOJ's system rather than DFK's. I can't wait to see how it plays though.Particularly interesting is the hypers charging faster when you have a higher hit count. So presumably high level play will involve cranking the rank up to max and hypering as much as possible. That is assuming you no longer get a multiplier for having an unused hyper.

But yeah it won't matter until we can actually play it. I think we will get a port even if it's not on the 360, and maybe not any time soon.

I'd love a Psyvariar tripple pack, Medium Unit, Revision and 2 with HD graphics and online international leaderboards with filters for scores achieved with the use of a roll button. That would be the dream. Revision and Medium Unit have pretty dated visuals so perhaps a complete remake would be in order, provided the originals were also avaiable. 2 is beautiful as it is so it would only need to be in HD. It would make a great XBLA title come to think of it. It would be nice to have a version I could get into full screen, anyway.

bleh, yeah, that sounds ALOT like DOJ's system.

SDOJ then..... not one I'll be playing. I *really* loathe DOJ more than any other shmup, so..... yeah. Zero excitement or interest in this new one. I'm sure plenty will enjoy it, but to me, it sounds absolutely horrid. Another @%)^&-ing chaining system.

But then, I knew all of this as soon as I saw the first video of the game being played.

Seems quite different from DOJ to me. That was all about really strict chaining and deliberate hyper use. SDOJ sounds much less strict, 30% instead of 100%. Also if you look at how hypers work it looks like there will be many more to play with when you're on a scoring run. And hypers fill the GP meter, and even make it longer in this game while active, so it will be less about going to be less about strict chaining and more about surviving the crazy rank. Sounds very fun.

Hypers had basically the same effect in DOJ; it just raised hit count instead (via a multiplier), but it's sounding like "GP" is going to be very nearly the same thing, since it looks like it only comes from chaining? The rank thing doesnt sound any different from DOJ (which did that as well). .....and it's still got those blasted bees, I wish they'd do away with those.

Ah well, I wasnt exactly expecting to really have an interest in this one; I dont really care for the DDP series to begin with, Daifukkatsu being the only exception since it plays nothing like the others. Though the first DDP was entertaining to do double-play runs in.

As for the thread topic..... I wonder if there ARE any more shmups coming soon to this? I've not heard of any beyond Mushi.

Oh I'd love a re-release of Gradius V on a 'modern' system. The one regret I have about selling my PS2 is that I can't play that game anymore. :(
