Popped into Game for the first time today since the buy-out.

 Was my reaction to the prices, some which were more expensive than before the buy-out. £19.99 for the first Professor Layton game, £5.99 in That's Entertainment about six doors down.

£14.99 for Disaster: Day of Crisis which was double than before. Saying that though, CEX have about ten copies of the Indy Lego/Kung-Fu Panda for £12.99 each.

The CEX I went into didn't smell.

CEX in Plymouth always smells of stale urine and the floor is scarily sticky :?
Still, it hives the burglars somewhere to sell their stuff.
I hope there's a CEX in the next Thief game :)
Oh and good news about Game, only hope the new owners are more switched on to the word on the street...

Went in Game today and found them selling a second hand copy of Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings on the Wii. The original case and inlay were missing, replaced with a generic black DVD case which was broken in several places. The inlay was replaced with a low quality, monochrome photocopy of the original. The manual was missing too, and the whole thing smelled weirdly of p1ss. It was right underneath the sign that said 'Preowned! The Only Difference Is The Price!'. That made me chuckle. They wanted £13 for it - that did not make me chuckle.

Business as usual at GAME I see.
It's almost as if they were threatened with closure and somehow had to come up with a workable business strategy in order to remain competitive in the Internet age!

Yeah, its hard to believe that Game's re-emergence is anything other than temporary.

I don't agree with their pricing, but I do agree with my local branch's current offer. "Trade in 3 games and get an extra £10 store credit!". I traded in six games that I don't play any more and got myself a copy of Kinect Star Wars.

...Which I'll probably now trade for money off Prototype 2.

So it seems they have emerged the other side of a great crisis (just barely) and apparently not learnt any lessons from it all. Brilliant business know-how there, claps on the back all-round. In fairness, perhaps it's a little too early to have seen any radical changes so time will hopefully tell.

I have to admit though that I've been into the local Gamestation a few times since the buy-out and things have crept back up in price, the selection of interesting games is sparse and there's no retro at all. Came out empty-handed both times.

According to Eurogamer they're stocking Nintendo games (well, Pandora's Tower SE for £50) again.

i bought a pile of PS3 games from Gamestation, some for as little as a quid when they were having their fire sale.

Traded them back in today (as they were mostly not worth hoarding) and got substantially more than I paid back. Very strange, but welcome.

Went into my only surviving GAME in my extended area and saw pre-owned copies of regular edition Mass Effect 3 for £37.99. A few shops down Argos had brand new copies for £34.99! So, for three quid more you can buy a game that requires an additional Online Pass for 800pts to go online with! Jesus!

Have GAME learned nothing from their recent brush with death? Games on fire sale for £1.98 (Matt Hazard etc.) are suddenly £4.99 again, and games such as Mass Effect 3 are stupidly higher than even regular general stores! SECOND HAND GAMES!!

How the hell can they charge more for old second hand stock when another shop not 4 doors down sells new stock cheaper!?! It's not even like they're competing with online companies in terms of price/convenience! Amazon.co.uk has Mass Effect 3 for £23.95 NEW! With free P&P! Hell, they're selling the PC version for seventeen quid as well. Brand new.

Sorry, shops like GAME need to go out of business. I'll feel sorry for the people losing their jobs, but as a consumer I'd feel much happier all round.

I had five games that I had kept behind to trade against Pandora's Tower in HMV today. Popped into Game first and for the five games that I bought from them for £13 plus one game from my collection that I was getting rid off anyway they gave me £43 trade.

After work I was meeting a friend so wandered down to meet him via Cash Converters where I picked up three games for £10, ran back to Game and they gave me £28 trade. I got Kirby's Mass Attack on the DS for £17.99, stuck the other tenner on the same gift card from earlier and now have £53 credit to spend. :D

At this rate I'll be able to get a 3DS.
