It was advertised as a Bitter Sweet Comedy.

I just watched it and found it to be just that. Have to say i enjoyed it. I got it.

I infact came across someone simular to Derek when i was young. He lived local to me.
Not exactly the same but simular enough for me to know that the character isn't over the top.

It isn't supposed to be a laugh a minute. Its subtle humour with some truths mixed in.

Some people don't like or get it. Thats fine. Don't watch it.

Personally i utterly hate things like Take Me Out, Soaps, Big Brother and all that stuff but hey, i just don't watch it.

I will continue to watch. :)

Hes probably a nice chap, but a unfunny probably nice chap

Jesus f*cking Christ, really?

See if you had just come on here an said, "I didn't watch it, Gervais is a tw@t", I wouldn't have a problem. But you didn't, you commented specifically on something you never watched.

Can I got back to ignoring you again or are you going to keep saying stupid sh*t?

It would probably have been better if Gervais had starred himself.

I'd go for the complete opposite. I was looking forward to a second series of Life's Too Short, but all the best bits were with Warwick and Gervais was surplus to requirements in most episodes.

Obviously talking to you like an adult wasn't fruitful so I may aswell descend down to your level, turning to this is laughable considering not a single one of your posts can be considered anything near mature

Congrats to DPrinny, his years of tedious posts has given him the honour of being the first and only person on my ignore list. Give yourself a pat on the back.

Hey, Prinny, you should read this, it's about someone else who formed and opinion before watching it. At least she had the decency to watch it, and then admitted her mistake (abeit hers was assuming that it was a p1ss take of the handicapped, yours is something far more stupid):

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-17656633

I watched it, as I do with all new Gervais things, partly because I don't like him. I hated the Office, Extras wasn't very good, and his arrogance over the Emmys etc made me want to punch him. However, Karl Pilkington has saved him, imo - he's a genuinely hilarious man, the podcasts they turned into cartoons were all about Karl, and An Idiot Abroad is excellent too - it's made me able to watch Gervais without kicking my tv. In Derek's case, Pilkington was lost in there, not very good, but Gervais was excellent. I thought it was really sweet, and gently funny.

So Gervais is a censored in real life as well?
Like I said, going off the trailers I didnt want to watch it, then TAJ decided to take offence to me not wanting to watch it after not finding the trailers funny (Same thing with Twilight, seen the trailers and I know I wont like it)
Watched some of Karl just now on Youtube, he is funny. So Ricky is the unfunny part of a double act?

Thing with ignore lists is that you need to be logged in for them to be effective. So unfortunately if I don't log in, which I frequently do, I might see what retarded sh*t you've written, which I have.

You should maybe watch the programme, you'd probably find you have lots in common with the title character.
