Tropcio??

Postby IronMaidenRule on Sun Apr 22, 2012 12:26 am

Anybody a fan of this series of games??

As being somewhat interested in Fidel Castro and Che Guevara, I find these games really interesting in a weird kind of way.

Remember having the original Tropico and the second one, which involved pirates :? , which I rebrought last year from GoG, skipped the 3rd game and now playing through Tropico 4, really addictive games in my opinion and it is interesting to see how your island develops and how you treat your people....too often I have left them uneducated and just there to service the lucrative tourist industry, that funds army to suppress any rebels  , totally not what the Cuban revolution was all about!!

I love these games :) Really got into the first two, enjoyed the third one but something seemed to be missing for me. Haven't gotten the fourth one yet, waiting for an online sale then will pick it up with the expansion for sure!

I quite fancy getting hold of Tropico 3 ... already listed for just a tenner on Steam. It'll be a big target for me in the summer sales ...

I would recommend people skip 3 and got straight to Tropico 4, it adds some much more to the game.

Shopto has the physical copy of Tropico 4 going for around £12:

I heart Tropico..

Any game where your final score is measured upon how much government funds you were able to siphon off into your Swiss bank account before you're ousted from power is a total winner in my book.

"Oh censored, it looks like I'm going to lose the election, even after I indulge in some vote massaging. I know, I'll just have my troops shoot my opponent, and whoever replaces him/her won't be able to gather enough support in time to topple my regime."

I always went the Soviet way and ended up desecrating my island with heavy industry, guard towers and rows upon rows of badly built Sov-block tenement flats.

Ooooo, sounds like fun. I might have to try and get it and give it a go. Thing is, I started Baldurs Gate 2 again recently, and I want to do more than the first 3 quests (yes, I know, I should have played it more!!!!!).

Yeah I used to love playing Tropico, not so much the second one with Pirates which was okay for a little distraction here and there. I haven't played 3 and 4 yet although I've been meaning to for awhile, I'm just unsure if they would run well on my PC

The scenarios on the first one where great fun although some were hard as nails and almost impossible I thought

I played T3 and thought it was fun but really offered little new to the SimCity style gameplay besides the control of the dictator.
Will check out T4 though as I think it did just need something to take it from good to great!
