So many good memories involved with the Spectrum...introduced me to so many different styles of games, me and my mates often used used to be round each others houses playing the latest stuff we'd gotten hold of, my first attempts at programming...

My 3rd computer after ZX80 and 81. I was at the computer exhibition where it was launched (with the promise of the "4 week delivery"). Got one until about 6 months after then and spent many hours playing games and making friends who also played games. Mind you 30 years ago - now I am depressed.....

I think it's disgraceful we don't celebrate ZX Spectrum Day the same way the Welsh celebrate Dragon 32 Day or the Americans celebrate Commodore 64 Day.

Even though I only had you for 5 months before your keyboard ribbon melted and I had to suffer months of waiting at Clive Sinclairs expense before getting a refund and being bought a BBC-B instead, I will always have a soft spot for you.

I raise my glass (well, mug of tea) to the Speccy. A great little machine. My 16K Speccy still works after 30 years (or at least it did when I last connected it up a year or two ago). I bet it wouldn't still be working if it had been some old 'Made in China' rubbish.

Happy 30th birthday Speccy!

I remember my dad coming home with a big box from Dixons in June 1988 (I think) - it turned out to be a +2 bundle and that was my first computer. Once I'd exhausted the games that came with it (Ian Botham's Test Match was a favourite) and the games that came with the Crash mags that I bought for a year from 1989 to 1990, I learned to program in BASIC and dabbled a little bit in machine code, typing in hex listings straight from a book. My best mate had a +3 and I was jealous of his vastly reduced loading times! That +2 is the reason why I work in IT (support) now...

Also, it wasn't until I was a bit older that I discovered that my dad had bought a ZX80 a few years earlier too, complete with 16K RAM pack, tapes and a bundle of Interface magazines. I got rid of the +2 long ago but that won't ever happen with the ZX80, it's priceless to me!
