Me too...I was assuming a couple of you others had been given spam killing powers because I haven't as of yet. Hopefully it gets dealt with soon.

I like the underlying optimism of the spammers. I think it comes from them being possibly mental in a strangely entertaining way.

There was a thread posted last weekend with the title "Once again he dons his stockings".

Somebody really thought that would pull in the punters. You'd have to be a nutjob to think that really. You'd have to be Rainman. I wonder if he was pleased with it. I wonder if he sat back after posting and thought "That there is a job well and truly done! I am pleased with my work right there. The suckers, the weak suckers, they've got no chance against me".

And then casually recited the calendar for 2044 noting the number of dates ending in a 2 that fell on a wednesday before starting another thread entitled "But strangely she knew it was a light in the loft".

There's a possibility that "he" did nothing at all, it could well have been a bot that perhaps uses a web scraper to fetch passages of text for the posts in order to make each one unique enough to avoid being detected by automated defences that look for repeated patterns in a user's postings. These posts don't need to survive for long to serve their primary purpose either, once the Google spider has nibbled at them they're good.

Many of the people behind spam act dumb as a deliberate ploy too, those 419 scam emails are written with glaring mistakes for a reason for example; in some cases, the people gullible enough to fall for the scam thought they'd be smart enough to outwit the "dumb" scammer due to the language of the emails.
