Collectors -who would you say is the most expensive?

Postby samhain81 on Sun Apr 29, 2012 3:12 pm

To collect for ??

When factoring in the rarities of software, and even hardware revisions over the past 20-30 years, who would say would be most expensive to collect for, Nintendo or Sega?

Consoles included up until Sega's hardware demise to make it a fairer question.

Sega

Sega Master System
Sega Gamegear
Sega Megadrive
Sega/Mega CD
Sega 32x
Sega Saturn
Sega Dreamcast

Nintendo

Nintendo Game & Watch (I suppose these could count)
Nintendo NES
Nintendo Gameboy
Nintendo V-Boy
Super Nintendo
Nintendo 64

Im not a collector or one of those per say but i would always say that Nintendo stuff holds its value more and the games always seem to be more expensive and difficult to get hold of.

Nintendo, I think the general understanding is because it's hard to get the games in great condition because they came in cardboard boxes.

I don't collect anything Nintendo but cardboard boxes are much harder to find in good condition.

That would be a valid point. Although, the same could be said for Dreamcast and Gamegear :)

Sega for sure!

The Saturn itself has loads of games that cost in excess of £100 each. I can't think of any Nintendo game that costs £100 on it's own.

Shinrei Jusatsushi
Battle Garegga
Crows
Mizubaku
Hyper Duel
Blast Wind
Radiant Silvergun

Just to name a few

I do know for sure that some snes games like Turtles in Time, and Sunset Riders (if boxed) can get as much as £90. The last CIB Turtles did, as I was watching it

there are atleast 30 games for snes that demand £100 miniumum, most of these go for £300+ some upto £800

Apart from a couple of sega 32x games, a cuple of sms games, and a handful others, there are very few expensive games. Whereas Ninetndo has some very rare games (in good compleet cond.) on all consoles!

On average, game per game, definitely Nintendo for CIB.

I don't see any equivalent Sega game going for a grand for a loose cart! :?

Is King Of The Monsters really that rare?

According to spence everything is worth a grand!

Overall cost per game I would say Nintendo is more expensive, the in house titles generally keep their value better than sega, rarity or not.

If Game and Watch does count then there are plenty that exceed £100 (assuming they are in good condition with the boxes) such as any of the table tops, Mickey Mouse and Donkey Kong Circus Panorama (I usually see these go for £500+ ), Egg and the Competition Super Mario Bros G&W which can exceed £1000 if complete.

There are plenty of Snes games that go for £100 these days. Thing with Nintendo on the whole there are just so many classic games, which are still very playable and wanted.
WANTED: Mario Party 3 on N64 (just the Box only) ANY SNES GAMES, OR EMPTY SNES BOXES, INSTRUCTION MANUALS or WHITE INNER TRAYS.
