I take it nintendo are trying to appeal to the Skylanders market with these new cards?

I actually don't get the buzz with these card things - I set up the AR software and tried out a couple of mingames on it, which was alright. A bit of a novelty. I then got the KI cards to "open" in the game and I though they were meant to battle or something - all they do is stand there. No idea what its all about, but its just another neat feature in the game for some people at least, who wish to see their favourite characters come to life on their coffee table.

One thing that has really impressed me with Kid Icarus is the sheer amount of stuff on the game card itself. I might not be all that taken with the cards, but its yet more content included in a game during a context where games often demand that you fork out over the odds for extras. There has been a lot of dicussion across the internet about Day 1 DLC and on-disc "downloadable" content. With Kid Icarus, Nintendo are charging you once and providing you with a superb video game with sky-high (literally and metophorically) production values and oodles of things to see and do. The game is stupidly big and will keep me engrossed for weeks. I have already put 25 hours into the game as of today. I completed the main campaign and found myself turning the game back on a few hours later to play around with my weapons, go online and have a few battles, then head back into the single-player and go through some of my favourite stages on a higher difficulty setting. There are still loads of levels I want to go back through again, and stages I really want to master....

And another thing - this is one game that I wouldn't trade in in a million years. Maybe if developers cottoned on to the fact that if they provide longevity and replay value there wouldn't be such a thriving second-hand video games market. Most games today have no unockables once you complete the story, bar a higher difficulty setting if you are lucky.

Hopefully we will see Nintendo and its development teams continue their run of outstanding portable software throughout the rest of 2012. The likes of Fire Emblem, Mario Tennis Open, Paper Mario 3D and Luigi's Mansion 2 can't come soon enough!

Theres been no mention of this, but the rejigged eShop since thursday is so much more user friendly. Hope they leave like that so I dont have to dig through sub-menus with names like 'games to play if youre parents are watching tv' or whatever.

Just finished my first play through of Resident Evil Revelations with the 'Frankenstick' & thoroughly enjoyed all 11 hours worth of it.

Great news but why is the sequel on an older platform?

Wow, you have to hand it to Nintendo, they are really coming out all guns firing and making the most of their franchises at the moment and its great for us Nintendo fans! I mean, those two are big system selling games, plus Mario Tennis end of May will be a pretty big game I reckon. Add in confirmed first party stuff like Luigis Mansion 2, Paper Mario and Smash Bros and you have a huge year ahead. Exciting. Wonder if NSMB2 is the new 2D Mario game that was announced a few months back?

Almost certainly.

Some people are going to say "Oh look, another Mario game  " but 2D Mario games are a staple of Nintendo gaming so I'd expect at least one per system, and they're always very good. The only surprise to me is that it's so relatively soon after 3D Land, but it's still a welcome announcement.

They've teased a NSMB game for the Wii-U aswell with that Wii-U demo, I wonder if they'll leave the 3DS game open for some sort of Wii-U/3DS connectivity?

Looks like you get to fly when using the racoon suit this time in NSMB2 unlike 3D land. Hopefully it'll have a nice variety of levels, enemies and powerups as the first couple of screens look identical to the DS/Wii version bar the racoon powerup and different colour koopa's.

Downloaded the new system software tonight, thank goodness that they have added the ability to create folders on the machine, it was becoming a bit of a nightmare to find the program that I wanted, now up to 60 programs can be kept in each one.

As someone mentioned earlier they have also responded to the messy e-shop, gone are the obscurely named folders, and in are more sensible names like Virtual Console, 3D Classics etc, much better, I also like the double scrolling bar it now has.

Yeah it is much nicer. Pity you can't give the folders in the menu a picture.

^ Yeah, great price, I snapped one up last Friday, meant to post a link to it then, it arrived Saturday morning too, sold out now unfortunately, they had over 100 at the start of Friday, by the time I ordered they were down to 32.
