Need suggestions for a good PC gamepad.....

So, yeah. Like the topic says, looking for a new gamepad.....

Oh, I HAVE one, see, but I appear to have beaten the tar out of it by launching it at a wall 10 times in a row. It does not appear to function after this event and a good chunk of the left side of it appears to have vanished. .....I am not particularly bothered by this, the horrid thing seriously had it coming. Whoever designed that abomination should be fired and then banished to Jupiter.

.....yes, it's stupid, but it made me feel better, at any rate. The thing had a total inability to get correct inputs out of the horrid analog sticks. Dpad wasnt even worth mentioning.


So, yes, kinda need a new one, and THIS time I'd like to buy one that ISNT a ridiculous piece of trash (and also preferrably is not a Logitech one, since they made the trashheap that I just destroyed). I figure, some of you probably have gamepads of your own, and might be able to recommend one that does not blow.

Normally, I'd just go to a local store, but in THIS case, the ONLY place around here that would ever sell something like that is Best Buy, and THEIR idea of a "PC gamepad" is a wired 360 controller (no, really). I definitely dont want to have to use one of those if it can be avoided.


So, yeah..... any suggestions would be most grand.

USB Saturn pad! got mine from PlayAsia it's lasted years and had some heavy playing even 1cc'ed Eswat and Psycho Nisson Oscar using it... Really is a damn fine pad

As Shinobi says, the Saturn pad is great but it really depends what your playing.
Personally, I use a wired 360 pad.
I've had a 360 for years now so was used to the pad and it made sense to get the same one for my PC.
Works great with every emulator and (with a bit of fiddling) the GTA games (only PC games I tend to play).

well, I like it!

I dont like it entirely because of the godawful Dpad. The rest of the controller is fine.... that Dpad is a travesty.

And very, VERY few games that I play actually need or use analog sticks for anything. .....actually, I cant think of any I own that do, aside from LittleBigPlanet 2. .....yeah, I think that's literally the only one. Oh, wait, Twisted Metal on PS3. That's the other one.

But yeah, everything ELSE needs a non-awful dpad. This can make it really hard to find good controllers.


I wouldnt mind just using the PS3's controller for this, but THAT thing is damn near impossible to get working on a PC. At least, I've never found a good, sane way of doing it.

If you're happy with PS pads, why not buy a USB adapter for PS1/PS2 pads? Very cheap option and you know already what the pads are like.

I'm pretty sure I dont actually have any of those anymore (and nobody around here sells any of those controllers anymore). The PS2 hasnt been used in..... a very long time. I sold damn near everything that was related to it.

.....actually I suddenly cant remember why I even still have the blasted console.

Don't get a Saitek if you want to be able to press down and/or right properly...

I've got a Logitech F710 and that's not too bad.

To be honest though, I prefer to use keyboard and mouse for most games.

Videogamesplus.ca do, brand new. I got one from them not long ago, a see through green one for $20 iirc.

Personally, I use both USB PS2 and USB N64 adapters...both of which work wonderfully and allow 2 pads into each! If I was playing new PC releases I'd go for a 360 controller though..but as you say, you don't want that!

There are adapters for pretty much every old controller though...I was thinking of getting a SNES one next for my PC....
