Gundam Battle Assault 2 (2D PS1 fighter)

Is anybody else a fan of this game? I've had it in my collection for ages and not really bothered with it but I tried it out today and it's brilliant . Lovely 2D graphics and decent animation for the PS1 given that 2D Capcom fighters usually suffered on the platform. I have to admit that I don't really know anything about Gundam but I don't think it's necessary for this game.

This is actually a Western exclusive of sorts since the first Battle Assault (more of the same but harder and much more limited) was a Japanese sequel which received a name change for the US/Europe. The Japanese eventually got Battle Assault 2 but it was released in two separate parts to split up the roster of mechs since it compromised of characters from two different anime series'.

Remember seeing the first one in WHSmiths years ago but ended up buying Dragonball Z Ultimate Battle instead (FAIL!).
This looks cool though and visuals are nice. Never watched Gundam though in all my years of being a fan of anime. Would never know where to start as there are so many different series!

I like both battle assault games for the original playstation. Cool little 2d fighter with a nice cast of different gundams. There's a third game for the ps2 but unfortunately it's no longer a 2d fighter rather a third person action game

I played and completed the first one and have a copy of the 2nd one on my shelf. Enjoyed both games, uses simple Street Fighter inputs, lovingly made graphics and it has A LOT of characters for a fighter that isn't a cross over!
