BLUE SHELLS!

Yep. Completely ruined the franchise for me, as far as I'm concerned. This from a guy who rates Mario Kart on the SNES as probably the finest videogame ever made.

The fact that you can be 1st Place for all 3 laps - only to be hit by a Blue Shell yards from the finish line and end up 11th is just ridiculously unfair. I know Mario Kart games have severe rubber banding problems (and outright cheating too) but Blue Shells were just mean.

I know, I know, preaching to the choir!



Last thing that got me a bit angry? The fact that console pre-owned prices are rapidly rising due to the dodged-death of GAME. And Online Passes. And Capcom.

Got a loan of a mates' copy of Dead Rising the other night, spend an hour and a half playing it without even thinking to save, and then a DISC READ ERROR flashes onto the screen, requesting I turn the system off. I wasn't furious or anything, but annoyed, and I won't be in a hurry to revisit those first 90 minutes anytime soon.

Speaking of Dead Rising, that was one of my last gaming things to p**s me off. Being the completist I am, I wanted to do all the cases in Dead Rising, then I was on a mission (think its the one where you have to save a hostage, and bring her back before the time limit runs out) that I just could not complete for the life of me, bring on low health with no weapons. Then, when I realised I couldnt retry the case, it left me so infuriated after doing everything before hand to completion, that I put the controller down, and never went back to it. Dont intend to either.

I got that game with my 360, and boy did it make me angry. In fact it ended in a genuine controller across the room moment when a survivor refused to follow me for the ten thousandth time. It was traded in very soon after, and my controller still bears the scars.

Jesus H Christ. It makes Mario Kart at it's cheating worst look tame. I spent 3 solid hours last night trying to beat the last race and eventually gave up.

I've got the PS2 version - you're not wrong! In fact that may top Mario Kart cos it's not just one weapon, it can be ANY weapon!

I don't think I've ever played a more cheap feeling cartoon racer in my entire life (and I'm a veteran of every Mario Kart game, Mickey's Speedway. Diddy Kong Racing, Crash Team Racing and others)...even the guy leading the race can get better weapons than you and constantly hit you with them (ie the Storm in a Can ) and the Instant Holes seem to have a larger than looks radius so you get sucked into them anyway even if you seemed to be a foot clear of them

I don't like to leave games unfinished like that, but it took me well over an hour to beat the next to last race as it was so I'm not sure I've got the patience to carry on struggling with the last track in the hope that I'll get lucky one go. Because that's pretty much all it is, pure luck, towards the end.
