The Neo-Geo... Who has got one?

Or who is giving it some thought to getting one?

I'd love one! Some of the games available for it... WOW!

I would like one in the future sometime but I already have enough other consoles to waste my money on

Too expensive, plus any of the games can be purchased much more cheaply via downloads or in compilations.

I nearly bought one a while back as it was a brilliant deal, then I realised it doesn't actually have any games I'd enjoy playing.

Seems to me to be the most elitist gaming system(not in a good way) out there, with collectors to match - and has been ever since it's launch.

Not for me ta.

I've got one. I always wanted one as a kid and used to love playing the MVS system at the arcade. Of course, the ridiculous expense of the system and games meant I never got one under the Xmas tree. :(
I bought one a couple of years ago and it is awesome. Yes, some of the games are ridiculously expensive but there are some classics that can be picked up for under £40. In fact, most of the games I remember from the early days of the system (1990-1993) are the cheapest. I'm less interested in the later games (the ones with the huge price-tags) so it hasn't been the most expensive hobby to indulge in.
It all depends on what you want out of the system. For me, classics like Magician Lord, Art of Fighting (one and two) and Fatal Fury Special make it all worth while.

i got one from Paulie on here, and i love it. Cost a fair bit mind but id always said that if one came up and i could afford it i would buy one as i never could as a kid. Far better to play on the original with the sticks than on a retro compilation (played on the snk anthology on the wii the other day and i gave up on some of the games, as it just doesnt feel right with the wii mote or classic controller).
The boxes, artwork are all great too. If you can get one cheap then i'd recommend it (like cauterize getting his boxed aes for a quid on a car boot)

I got one years ago when my local rental shop was clearing out his older systems, he used to rent out the AES, and a couple of games for 3 nights, for £10, he was going over to the new consoles PS1, Saturn, so he offered it to me for £65 with Soccer Brawl and Samurai Spirits, it is a little beaten up, no original power supply, but it works fine, I did only collect a few more games for it though.

As has been said a lot of the earlier games can be picked up fairly cheaply, they are not all beat-em-ups either, and I have a Neo Geo CDZ to play the really expensive games such as Pulstar cheaply, even if the excellent cart soundtracks have been replaced, and the loading times can be a bit of a pain.

Always drooled over the screenshots of Neo Geo games in Games X magazine, never got an aes, but got a NGPC when they came out and had a complete uk set of games, then I bought a CDZ and had 50 odd games for that, the loading times were awful but once it loaded it was ok.

I have a boxed AES in very good condition, but only 1 game. I'm always on the lookout for another cart but am unlikely to drift over the £20 mark.

If you're on the lookout for decent AES games at reasonable prices there's a couple of shops I'd recommend.
http://www.videogameimports.com are very good but don't tend to update their stock very often.
On ebay you can't go wrong with Hit Japan http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Hit-Japan-Video-Games-and-Anime?_rdc=1, with a huge selection of stock and reasonable shipping rates (considering it is coming from Japan), they are well worth checking out.
I've just discovered another shop on ebay that is excellent - Game Sensei http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Game-Sensei?_rdc=1 - I got a copy of Art of Fighting 2 in very good condition (no cracks in the box, manual looks unread) for under £20 with free postage. They don't seem to have many neo games at the moment but they threw in free stickers and everything.

Only system I still want and don't have but not sure why, will just cost me loads of money in the long run. Will probably only ever own 3-4 games for it, pay-rise in September so I may be tempted then.
