Can't think of any as I always had great taste in games and could foresee greatness with whatever I bought, or my mother bought me as a child

I suppose the closest would have to be Dawn of War 2.
I really enjoyed the first series and expansions, and was looking forward to this quite a bit when it was announced. It's rare that I am willing to pay full price for a game, but I did. When I finally got to play it, I was a little underwhelmed to the point of meh.
It's not that its a bad game, its actually ok, but because they had changed the premise to be more "hero" focussed I kinda lost interest. I like my RTS to be based around squads and strategy, not invest so much in a handful of characters. I ended up only getting about a quarter of the way through before I lost interest altogether.
I did buy the expansion though, albeit when the price dropped, with the hope that one day I'll give it another go, and maybe enjoy it more this time?

Actually, come to think of it, there is one game, that I saved up 2 months of pocket money for only for a big WTF slap to me face to happen when I loaded it up for the first time. Star Wards: Force Commander. As soon as I saw that the manual was bigger than a dictionary, I knew it was not a good sign.

Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly on PS2 was a crushing disappointment for me. The PS1 trilogy are some of my favourite games of all time with nice gameplay, excellent music and buckets of charm so Spyro on the PS2 HAD to the best thing ever right? Wrong: it was a game with no charm, boring levels, annoying characters, and a general unfinished feel. Even worse were the frequent glitches and even more frequent software lock-ups

It was shortly after that I researched the game and discovered that it was rushed in time for Christmas by the new developer. It still would have been most of things listed above but the rushed development resulted in the final insult of glitches

Easily the worst sequel and biggest crushed excitement of all time for me.
