Combat was utterly shocking, what a load of rubbish. Rest of the game is superb. I might skip the second game and move onto the third.

Might be for the best. They ramped up the combat significantly in Warrior Within and to be honest its still not that good (I still quite enjoyed the game myself though). The third game add in stealth moves and quick takedowns so most encounters last far less time or are completely avoidable altogether.

I found the combat to be far more meaty in the third one so I will try that. It is a pity when developers fall into the 'hollywood' category when making games. Combat aside, PoP felt very polished and stylish. It just seems like they ramped it up because it is what people wanted when it wasn't.

Syberia 2 on PC.

Happy to say i didnt use a walkthrough once! Some of the puzzles were really hard to work out but always had such simple solutions. Really enjoying the point and click adventure genre at the moment.
I asked for orange. It gave me lemon lime!

Yet to try that one - finished my VC download of Paper Mario (n64) but it freezes right at the end,so not sure if i want a repeat - hoped it would allow me to re-explore with the same save. Meh.

The Thousand Year Door is a git to find at a sensible price these days, though you could probably buy it, play it, and sell it on for roughly what it cost you. The problem is it might be too good to part with. Then again maybe all these "rare" GC games will be available to download for a few quid fairly soon.

Not played the first Paper Mario, but I hear it's pretty sweet. Many reviewers have said there's not much between the the N64 and GC games, but they do seem to lean slightly towards the N64 one, which makes me think it must be bloody brilliant then.

I completed every mission possible in that time, but I guess most of the missions are worth doing to help level up, which you need to do a lot of! When I was fighting the last boss I think I was quite underlevelled so I'd be surprised if many people complete the game in less than 70 hours without a strategy guide.

Hmmm, think I might have to put it on the backburner for the moment then unfortunately.

Maybe one day in the future.

Never been able to find Thousand Year Door at a reasonable price or in good enough condition - I would say the N64 is a good game , not sure I'd say it was great but it does seem a bit tongue in cheek and a bit more grown up - not adult but a bit more self aware than your average mario game.Which may explain its popularity.

Completed Space Harrier II on the Mega Drive for the first time in yonks (usually my best is the last stage)...not usually rated incredibly highly and it's certainly rather flawed (the speed's rather odd in how slow enemies come towards you, but then it's the Mega Drive) - but I kind of like it anyways, because it's more Space Harrier fun - possibly the best title one could get when the system launched (at least in Japan/USA).

Also completed Strider on the MD - god knows how many times I've done that. I think this time I finally managed to develop an ok strategy for Meio - usually it's just a case of trying to get him before he gets me...it's all for a cause, but it's not like a good excuse is needed to play through Strider.

As for something more recent, I went through Bastion. I thought the narration was going to get quite old, but I ended up really enjoying listening to it - somehow they managed to make it work. Not the trickiest game around and it certainly throws potions at you everywhere you walk, but the style and playability of it made it a real goodie.

Played and completed Portal today. I liked it. Definitely different to anything I've played before and I loved GLaDOS's crazy ramblings. Will have to get Portal 2 at some point.

Finished New Super Mario Bros Wii. A solid 3/5, IMO. I really have no idea how it got such great reviews. It is derivative, tedious and unfair.

Assassins creed revelations. It still had time to wind me up with some first person platforming (why??), but it was a little better at the end than the beginning. The little snippets of altair's story were nice. They really should get rid of the future bits though, no one cares, it just feels unnecessary.
