I'm really getting fed up with selling on Ebay. I had 17 items finish last night and this has so far broken down to:
- 8 payments (but one was for Italy where I specifically stated that I wasn't posting outside the UK)
- 5 items didn't sell and have been re-listed
- 4 still to pay (one looks as though its a non-payer)

However, as soon as one of the auctions finished I get a message saying "Hi, I'm really sorry but my son got hold of my phone and bid on your item without me knowing. I am so sorry to waste your time and hope you don't think badly of me. My apologies once again"

WTF!!!!!!!!! This p!sses me off no end.

I think ebay should take payment of these morons as soon as an item finishes. There should be no debate, no second chances. it s an effin sham!!

Anyway, rant over. BTW if anyone wants an Asus EEEPC (fully boxed, etc) let me know and I'll see if we can do a deal.

Cheers,
Doogs.

One major problem is people dont fill in things such as a 'non paying bidding alert'.

My wife sold one thing recently, someone bid right at the end and won it, their feedback had a lot of negatives, lots of 'didnt bother paying, waste of time' (positive feedback as you cant leave neg). The type of nightmare buyer you dont want winning your item.

The thing is i think if buyers get 2 or 3 negative non paying bidding alerts they get kicked off ebay. But as people dont bother doing these these buying idiots stay on ebay to be a major pain.

Yes its bad if you have these people bidding and not paying on your items, but if we ALL reported them then they would disappear quite quickly.

Please, always report non paying bidders.

Ah the old "my son/dog/fish" bid on it by mistake, never fails to bring a smile to my face...when it happens to other people!

I'm astonished, however, by the number of sellers who don't use the option that does not allow people to bid from countries you don't ship to.

Good points both.

I will definitely be reporting this one if they don't pay.

I didn't know you could exclude bids from other countries. TBH I only said UK only as I couldn't be ar$ed with all the faffing of getting postage quotes for international postage.

The whole of the EU is the same price (I believe) and not much different to UK either.

Well, the Australian customer finally paid up on Friday 26th, a full 5 days after winning, a joke. My other valued 'customer' still hasnt paid. And I only just noticed he has a grand total of zero feedback. From now on I will only accept bids from Ebayers with 15 Feedback or more, and they will have had to have been a member for at least 2 months. I am not having any more of my time wasted by morons. I have opened a non payer case against said moron.

Also, gutted about the Aussie customer, I didnt realise until yesterday that you can file a non payment complaint after just 4 days, I would have filed a complaint as soon as I could have. 4 days is far more than plenty of time to pay up if you ask me. There is no excuse to keep people waiting more than a day or 2. Ebay need to review their procedures imo. And as for the seller not being able to leave a negative feedback, thats just a bad joke.

^We get that a lot, 0 bidders bidding and then never paying/never even making contact. Its like its a form of 'trolling' with ebay accounts, just a weird 'laugh' of bidding on items and thats it. Honestly with the internet you get all sorts. I mean theres the type who have a few wine gums (and cant handle a shandy or two) and then stupidly bid on things at 2am when theyre back home and hammered and are surprised when in a weeks time a rubber doll turns up. Then theres the weird type who bid on things but never want to buy them, just odd.

I'm sure 99% of people here just bid on things they want to buy, just dont get all these idiotic time wasters. Even when you put in your description 'wont accept bids from 0 bidders' (We then delete their bid/block the bidder) so many bid with 1 second left and win the item (despite in large letters in the description saying no 0 bidders).

Just a pain, but you get them everywhere, look at a lot of the hassle we've had with sales on the forum here or the infamous Secret Santa from last year.

you can specify which countries you wish to ship to in your shipping options when you list. Can be a bit of a pain if you want to exclude certain countries.

So do I, purely because you get more interest. I sold my Xmen Vs Street Fighter on PS1 to an Australian buyer for £40 for example and that game rarely tops £25 if sold within the UK only.

As for the non-payers, everybody should report them. I open the case against any of them (after reasonable attempts at polite communication of course) then block them from bidding on anything else I ever sell. You lose out on fees too if you don't open a case because when a buyer gets a mark against their account for not paying, you get your final value fees refunded too.

Where does it say on eBay that 'you must pay within X number of days'?

So ebay themselves recognise that up to 4 days is a reasonable period.
