Mushihime-sama Futari Black Label coming to iOS soon, likely within the next month:

http://toucharcade.com/2012/06/08/bug-p ... from-cave/

It's impossible to give this one a higher recommendation than I already do; one of the best shmups ever, at least as far as I'm concerned, is Futari, and this is an even better version of it. Scoring systems altered for the best, difficulty rebalanced, and God mode replacing Ultra (and God mode is a blast).

Also, Raystorm hitting iOS as well (published by Square, sigh). That one is also very, very good. No word on when that one hits.

Should be a few games announced in a few minutes which will come out at midnight tonight

One game did come out early...

Chrono & Cash
http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=138997

Orange Pixel the company behind it are one of my favourites, done a lot of good platform games (Stardash, Meganoid and Inc), this is a decent little platform game, tons of jumping, retro graphics, pretty good game. Picked it up and its a lot of fun, wish it had a few more powerups (or a fire button) but plays very well

One game coming out tonight...

Suspect in Sight

This looks great, only 69p, not a huge download size, from the looks of the video i'm hoping it'll play as well as it looks

You lot have been quiet regarding iOS games !

Anyway been playing lots of Euro Soccer ( forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=137733 ), won the Euros on the first few difficulty settings, now up to a decent level where the games are very close, love the way this one plays.

Liked it so much i then found one of their other games..

http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=115567

Reminds me a 'bit' of Player Manager on the Amiga, you start off by selecting one star player, you earn coins per game and the idea is to buy better players as you work your way up the leagues/cup. Theres IAP's (the games free), i bought the cheapest set of coins (69p) as that then gets rid of the ads. Really enjoying this, the teams are all a bit weird, eg Dallas/Wrexham in the same league but its a lot of fun, the games are the same as Euro Soccer.

Anyway games i bought wednesday night...

Asphalt 7
http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=140859

From the video it looks great so i bought it, there are iAP's but i've been reading they arent forced on you and you earn a lot of coins in the game. Runs really well, loving it, very arcadey.

Astronot

This is my favourite, true retro style graphics, BBC B like. Metroid-ish as you explore the levels, played it a bit this morning, touch screen buttons, work well. Well worth picking up from this one man band developer.

Downloading Dream League Soccer and Asphalt 7: Heat (1.11GB!) as I type! Cheers, psj. :D

Really enjoyed the previous Asphalt games on iOS so definitely looking forward to playing this latest release on my iPhone 4S.

Recently snagged for free or 69p,

* Pinball Arcade - marvellous pinball sim albeit with pricey IAP
* Bike Rider DX - decent side-scrolling obstacle avoiding effort
* Grim Joggers - another endless runner that's not bad at all
* Lost Winds - reputedly a quality platformer (not played it yet) reduced from £2.99, iirc

I'm addicted to Dream League Soccer, not keen on IAP's but as the game was free i normally then purchase one IAP (as like a 'thankyou'). Watching small ios game trailers is annoying but if you choose to do it you get free coins, easy way to get money

Just got promoted and signed a fair few good players, i'm glad the season isnt long (15 game season not 38).

Asphalt 7 i'm really enjoying as well, i dont like tilt so i changed the control options. Very arcadey, a lot of fun, well worth the tiny 69p and havent had to buy any IAP's. Shame about the big file size but i'm enjoying it so much i've uninstalled a few other racers i had as i think its that good.

Pinball Arcade i really like, feel its the best one out there and i love the fact that all tables are based on real ones. Have a look at the original table on youtube and then go back to the one in Pinball Arcade, very impressive. I know theyre quite pricey but i think theyre worth it.

Keep an eye out on Lost Winds 2 which has got great reviews also

Remember to check out 'Air Mail' as well. Think its a great looking game, controls work well, brilliant iOS game

Just had my first play on Pinball Arcade and quite frankly I'm staggered at how utterly brilliant a game it is. I had a go on the included Arabian Nights table and everything seemed just so flawlessly executed it was unreal. Incredibly detailed pin-sharp visuals via my iPhone's retina display, gorgeous audio and the best pinball physics by far that I've experienced in a video game on any platform. Absolutely stunning. :o :D

I can only imagine just how fabulous the game must be to play on the new iPad.

Pricey IAP aside I cannot praise this game highly enough. :D

Re: Air Mail, I'm waiting for its price to drop from the current £2.99 for me to purchase it. It's on my AppShopper watch list.

Yeah for me Pinball Arcade is the best one out there, i've deleted the other ones i've got. Some werent too bad but i just love the way real tables are 'simulated' with Pinball Arcade. Theres more to come as they did a kickstarter to raise funds for a new table (Forget what one, its apparently one of the best) so that'll be coming in the future.

Never used to be into pinball that much but just love this app. Again granted the other tables cost a bit but in real terms they're quite cheap and so worth it, quite a collection now (is it 8 or 10 tables now in the app ?). Now its such a huge shame the iCade doesnt have side buttons for pinball games!

Yeah Air Mail is cool.

Dream League Soccer, got promoted, did spend 2 quid on IAP's (i know i know !) to help bolster my squad, its very good now, just won my first game in the new division 7-0 ! Got a team of all stars i think, hoping i get a cup run.

So yeah for the 10000th time thats what i love about iOS gaming, one minute i'm playing a great platformer (Chrono & Cash - please try that one out, another great game from Orange Pixel, a 'bit' like Chuckie Egg/Muffin Knight, no shooting just jumping), next minute a racing game like Asphalt 7, then a footy game, then reading a graphic novel etc all on this small device. Brilliant !!

I just had my play at Asphalt 7: Heat. Only played one 'quick start' and two 'career mode' races so far and have been more than impressed. Jaw-dropping graphics, suitably high octane music and decent enough car handling. I got on fine using tilt controls with the previous Asphalt games on my iPhone and thankfully all's still good in that regard with this new series release.

When arcade-style racing games look this good on iOS...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXP9Rcr7OLQ (select to view in HD quality)

... and are as feature-packed as this release is then, to me at least, the likes of 3DS and PS Vita just look ever more redundant as a prospective purchase for existing iOS (and soon to be Android too in three days) device owners.

For arcade-style racing thrills on current-gen portable gaming systems folk could buy,
* Ridge Racer 3D (3DS) for an SRP of £39.99 (albeit available for £9.95 now from TheHut.com), or
* the DLC-a-thon that is Ridge Racer for PS Vita, or
* Asphalt 7: Heat on iOS for 69 pence

No contest. :D

Normally I'd probably be posting more, but I honestly havent found much of interest in the last few weeks worth of releases.

Two really nice retro style games came out a few days ago...

Astronot
http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=140525

This is like a true old skool 8 bit classic, no map, just fend for yourself and find things, explore, shoot/jump, its like an old BBC game, very addictive. Like a basic Metroid, click on the link and look at the video

Toon Shooters
http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=141314

Nice homebrew shoot em up, good graphics, lots of nods towards old shooters such as R-Type, well worth it, i mean its free and its 69p to get rid of the ads (That doesnt work but the dev is sorting out an update !). But well worth trying out, nice surprise this game. Has a few different 'ships', one is a normal relative touch, another you control by moving it in a 360 circle, bit like Side Arms.

Yeah at one stage i thought about switching to Android mostly because of all the emulators you can easily get (no jailbreaking etc) but i had to stay loyal to my ipod and have no regrets now. I managed to get iMAME last year so i was so happy, also theres a certain Speccy app which you can access and add any games to so i'm happy with those two.
